I watched about half of the first episode, it seemed pretty standard at best - typical serialized fantasy fare, I don't know that I'll go back to it. Hunters with longbows chasing after deer (on foot!) and shooting at the deer while both hunter and target are moving is pretty absurd. It would have made far more sense for the dogs to flush the deer and direct them towards waiting, stationary, and possibly elevated, archers.

I could draw comfortably at 55 in better shape than now.

Lindybeige is ok but I watched a guy firing one at 150 draw weight. He was testing booking arrows vs contemporary brestplates.

His technique was interesting. Guy was more like a barrel vs a gym bunny poser though.

I've seen guys built like him way stronger than my best. They load trucks and work in ports. Theoretically they could probably hit the gym and train themselves to fire those bows.

Theres guys who think they're strong, guys who are string then the guys who know theyre strong looking at the really strong ones.

No, certainly not, which is why I specified warbow, which would be on the upper end (90# +).

All I know at 55 pounds a lot couldn't draw it. I did 80 pounds but not sure I could do much more than that.

That was when I could pick up a 63kg beer keg each hand. Bows a bit different.

Everyone knows Robin Hood reached perfection in 1973.

Turns out all an old English legend needed was some down home American honkey tonk songs to make it a classic.

Hot take: there has never been and can never be a historically accurate Robin Hood story, because Robin Hood is not a historical figure. Same goes for King Arthur.

Breadsword on Youtube has a truly excellent video essay on the joys of Disney's Robin Hood and how and why more recent efforts have failed, due to misunderstanding the nature of the legend.

This one just has some unrealistic depictions in the artwork. The Taren Egerton was just silly, and not in a good way.
