People do not engage in gatekeeping behaviour because the are Evil, they are gatekeepers BECAUSE THEY CARE. They care enough to try and keep people who do things differently out of their "thing". Gatekeeping is human nature. But some of use try to rise above our human nature and do better.

And I still say disliking something that changed and trying to keep others out of it are separate things.

Everyone dislikes change. Life was much better when we still had prehensile toes. Disliking but accepting is fine, disliking and trying to rewind the clock is wrong.

If I had one wish... I would LOVE some prehensile feet! Being able to eat with both hands while holding a book and turning the pages... My life's dream...

Actually you can, kinda. A change is made, and if it isnt well received you correct it, maybe also bringing forward parts of the change that can be adapted. This is where 5e originally came from.

I dont think so. We have different opinions about the nature of change.

But even if you make the "correction," it won't actually be the same. It may be more similar, but you can't go back and have that same experience, now that you know it could be different. And you can only experience something for the first time once.
