The DM screen actually increased my participation!

I've just finished DMing tonight's session. I didn't get a chance to sit down as it was one big combat and there was too much going! Sore feet, but lots of fun.

I try to sit a bit to not suffer back aches later, but I can't usually. Standing is more active and easy to DM, IMHO. And my table is pretty high too.

Here's a question for all you standing DMs. What is your general setup like. Are you playing in a living room at a coffee table, or at something more like a dining table?

I have a dining table with removeable legs I set up in the middle of the living room for each session. I sit/stand at the end that is closest to my computer so I can use it to references my wiki and/or the SRD.

My living room is pretty small, so when everyone is present we are pretty cramped - but as DM I claim the most space.

Ah, you see, I normally game in our living room, at our coffee table. The players are on the sofas and floor, and the table is at under knee height. And, I'm tall. There is no issue with the screen blocking my view of the players. If I were to stand, I'd not be able to reach my dice...

Both/either. That's been dictated more by the venue in my groups.

We use the coffee table for more informal games - but for a game with a battlemat and minis - I find having people lounge leads to distraction - most everyone prefers sitting around a table.
