In an adventure I wrote (Circle Hold, if you go to conventions in the Northeast) I had a room with three doors. The middle door had a sign made from salvaged wood spiked to the door. Written in blood was "This room is a death trap. Do not enter. You will die." I ran this adventure 12 times. The players were so intrigued 9 teams opened the door, entered the room, and at least some of them died. Two teams avoided the door and one team was returning to the locale and so knew better.

You just never know what those zany players will do.

wow, thanks for the help everyone! i really like your idea about the dream tarchon! this should solve my problem, even if i do need a stupid NPC in there with them. ;)
