I'm still wondering where the "disguise" is.
Discord has to start somewhere...Your attempt to equate a clickbaity article about WotC selling a book to Lin Codega’s coverage of the OGL crisis is borderline insulting to all those who were involved in that situation.
D&D players: "There are some issues with the game. Could you tinker around with it a bit and fix some of these problems? Especially since it's been 10 years since the original books."
WotC: "Sure. We'll go ahead and work on those problems and release an updated version of the core books."
(Some) D&D players: "Why are you exploiting us by giving us exactly what we've been asking you to do?"
I was waiting for an update. After ten years, fixing bugs and updating the core is expected. Why should new players use 10 year old books. I have players that were 5 when the books were printed.Did you ask them to rewrite the game? Who was it? You vaguely hand wave and use a generalization. Why not just make some more great content, like Ravenloft, instead of fracturing the community?
By providing content that people like so much that they will actually buy them. Shame on you WotC.More like
“How can we get them to buy the 3 core books again?”
I like to think it is only half a grab mixed with designers wanting to make something they think is better than the last edition. The amount that they succeed is up to debate.every new edition for any game is a cash grab.
