The Dragon Compendium

Sold!

I've got some of those articles, and they really don't need to be updated (say, Tesseracts), but my Dragons are starting to get worn. A hardbound would be nice, not to mention easier than trying to remember all those issue numbers.

A couple of questions:

What is "The Chi-Square Test"?

And, if Erik's willing to spill the beans a bit early, will the pain article (forget the issue, but it had a chessboard on the cover) be in there? How about the "Realistic Vital Statistics" that had a more complex formula for height and weight, based on strength?

Well I do not know what is gonig to be in the Compendium, but to answer a couple of your questions.

The Chi-Square Test is a Statistacal method in that allows you to test to see if your dice are truely random or if they are even loaded. This artical first appeard in Dragon #78 page #64, the artical was titled "Be Thy Die Ill-Wrought" It even featured a basic program to type into your computer to do the math for you. I will be kool to see if they have a web based version of this program to go along with the article.

As to the pain article I believe the one that you are looking for is in issue #118 page #40 the article is titled "ARRRGH" and it discusses pain in D&D

I wonder if the variant paladins like the llyan and fantra made it into the mix with all their different hit dice and spellcasting abilities. They were quite the weird ones back in the day but fun stuff.
Oh, yeah...I remember those guys. They were kind of neat.

Man, Len Lekofka. There's a name I haven't heard in an age...

I asked on the Paizo boards if "Good Hits and Bad Misses" was going to be in there, and Erik confirmed that it would be in there.

Been a while since I used that chart. Maybe it'll be time to use it again.

With Bastion's critical hit supplement and the one found in the old Advanced Player's Manual by WW, it better be more than "double damage" "tripple damage" "head chopped off" type of stuff.

Heck, I used Mayfair's Blood & Steel for years before I used that stuff.

The very first Dragon CompendiumDesign Diary has been posted at paizo.com. We've asked Erik to talk a little bit about what went in to putting together the contents for our first Dragon compilation. We've also posted an updated cover image!
