The Drow War I . . . it rocks!

Bought it today on DrivethruRPG as well I liked what I saw... there may be something epic brewing here that I can twist as needed... I might be able to get some good use out of this :)

So far thumbs up.

After reading the details on the Dragon Lord campaign, for some reason it doesn't sound quite as appealing. I'm getting a claustrophobic feeling, everything is in one big mountain?

The drow campaign actually does sound intriguing, aside from the cliche "drow invasion". Maybe it's because of the promise that many of the PCs' choices will effect the outcome of important events. I get the feeling that the hook to get the party together is really bad, please don't tell me it's "you are each teleported to this remote island". Lame. I love the idea of a sweeping plotline from 1st through epic though. I will definately thumb through the book at the FLGS.

hook

Unfortunately, yeah, the hook to get all the PCs together is really bad.

The book is very well written and there is a lot of thought regarding PC actions and consequences. There's very little railroading, which is impressive for a complete campaign like this that isn't site based.

The maps quality is average to poor.

On the whole I'm really glad I bought this book.

I'll certainly buy the 11-20 book. I'm not a big fan of epic play, so I don't know if I'll buy the 21-30 book.

My girlfriend bought it two weeks ago and plans on running it as her first campaign. She says that the plot is very intriguing and the only thing she's really worried about are the victory point conditions. She also hates the maps.

As I will be playing in this campaign I refuse to pick it up or read a word. I want to be fully engrossed when she starts (and i dont want to get into father DM mode "you're not doing this right" )
