The duelist - what kind of bonus is canny defence?

Is it an intelligence bonus? Or some other kind?

The reason I want to ask is for the purposes of stacking bonuses ie. armour bonuses from bracers of armour etc.

I'd say it's a dexterity bonus to AC. Canny defense doesn't add the intelligence bonus directly to AC, but rather to the dexterity bonus of AC. Say you have a duelist with a dex of 18 (+4) and an int of 14 (+2). This duelist would have a +6 dex bonus to AC.

All this IMO.

When not wearing armor or using a shield, a duelist adds 1 point of Intelligence bonus (if any) per duelist class level to her Dexterity bonus to modify Armor Class while wielding a melee weapon.

Are there still "unnamed" bonuses in 3.5? I couldn't find any text on unnamed bonuses, but my understanding from 3.0 was that unnamed bonuses always stack.

If unnamed bonuses still exist, I wouldn't make the bonus to AC named without good reason.

I wouldn't treat it as anything other than what it is labeled. So its an "unnamed bonus" which stacks with everything else. So a monk duelist would keep ac bonus's from both classes because it never said it was similar so why assume it is?
