Ok, couple things.

First, no weird races besides what I've already laid out. Let's keep that simple. Very simple homebrew class stuff can be accepted, besides the ones I already listed. I want to keep this as simple as is possible.

Firearms requires proficiency, or a feat, and if you don't have it, not only do you have disadvantage on attack rolls, but you have a decent chance every time you use it of it getting jammed. Cause reasons. I'll work out what the feat does, but it should be good. Probably similar to Crossbow Expert. In fact, I may just say Crossbow Expert applies to handguns the same way it does to hand crossbows.

Bows and crossbows are still things.

You can make a gunslinger, but no new gunslinger class. Work with what you have.

If anyone is playing a warlock, or thinking of playing a warlock, PM me.

All those other rules apply. Magic users are strictly enforced. They have to wear special clothing. They have to be on official business. Unless you're a Pariah, in which case you'll be hiding who you really are.

This is just me getting some things straight, now that I'm seeing the setting a little clearer.

Arcane only or Divine as well?

Steampunk is cool.... like the artic at night. As for time period if your still mulling it over why not literally have it just happening so the first railroad just opened etc and the feudal lords don't like it as these tycoons are getting mighty powerful.
tglassy did you get chance to look over my barbarian sub yet?

The races are all influx atm put the gist is they are going to be highly opposed to this "science" malarky and very vocal about this fact.

I could be wrong but. This is probably something we should all agree OR disagree on before we get too far along. I don't suppose the group has to have every PC 100% dedicated to one side or the other but we do need to be able to co-operate.

My primary ideas are either against it, or skeptical at best.

I'll mull over my new options (Why can't I ever be more decisive about what to make!) and try to have it narrowed back down to 1-3 ideas by the end of the day.

Yeah, I don't think that would cause much contestation. The Crisis is one of magic, not technology. The tech is just the setting. It's there, it'll be a factor, but this is mid 1800's tech, with little to no electricity, so it's not like there'll be supercomputers or anything. Just "These new marvels" that people have been cranking out, mainly the printing press and steam engines, as well as gunpowder and more modern bullets. But like I said, any armor worth it's weight can deflect a bullet (cause magic), so while gun'll be useful and powerful, they aren't the sword killers they became in the real world. A lot of people still go for armor and melee weapons for that reason.

I'm sticking to the fact that religion has been on a downward slide during this time, which is not necessarily a good thing. The old religion is one of a Single God with multiple aspects, like reflections of himself. I've used that in a book I wrote so it'll work here. Each of the domains is a different aspect. But, while there's a church in every town, there just aren't as many people going to them, or at least if they do, it's more out of habit than faith.
