The ENWorld Electric Bard Gear (Etc) Thread

One of my more exotic distortions is the 3rd Man Plasma. That’s one of their 2 pedals that distorts your signal via a visible electric arc. The other is the Plasma Coil, which is a variant on the Plasma made in partnership with Jack White. The main difference I know of is that the Plasma has a blend knob, and the Plasma Coil does not.
Those pedals are soooo cool!

Would like to get one to support White. Not only have I listened to his albums over the years enough times that the $14 I paid for them seems criminal, but I really admire 3rd Man's creative output as well.

3rd Man pedals are crazy priced and most likely just a mimic of a Digitech.

If anyone's interested in the MXR Dookie/FOD pedal, here's a really fun demonstration video:

It's too much fun watching him realize it's not just a joke pedal and really get into it. :D

I bought this today. its coming Sunday or Monday. Sight unseen is a myth and unless there is truly a factory defect such as a bowed neck you can fix most problems with a set-up. I have a Fender out of Indonesia, as is this, and it's great. So, I'm guessing it's about the same guitar. I'm going to put Ratios in the head stock. The one I have now is HSS and I swapped them out for Seymor Duncan Hotrails. It kicks ass. Squier and Epiphone IMO offer more value than Fender and Gibson

Anyhow, any suggestions on PUPS? No BareKnuckles I don't like them. I have an Ibanez with them in it,
man the neck on it is amazing, roasted maple and there's nothing to it, Ibanez always did have good necks.

Plenty of ideas besides BKP. What’s your target sound & tone? Are you looking for classic tele twang? Hotrodding? Noiseless?

Tele Twang ideally, but something somewhat versatile to an extent. Noiseless too if that's an option, which it probably is because Fender does make noiseless pickups they put in some Tele and Strats. But first things first, hear what it sounds like when I get it. My first decent guitar was a Squier HSS Strat I bought in 1989-1990. I paid just a little over $200 for it back then, which looking back seems somewhat expensive for that time. I ended up selling it to my cousin (who refuses to sell it back to me) and when I talked to him a few years later he said that he'd never heard another humbucker that sounded like it and he's been playing since at least 1980. I've never been a tone chaser, still aren't and I am a firm believer in its not what you play but how you play it, a $3000 Gibson Les Paul isn't going to make you a better player. Two good examples are Zakk Wylde said (I'm paraphrasing) I don't need a particular guitar, amp, pedals, I play guitar, either you play guitar, or you don't. Second one, Frank Zappa played an arena with just a little Pig Nose amp.
