The Eternal Rest

Anyone have some interesting solutions to the ever resting party? I'm speaking of the party that rests more often than would seem prudent. Maybe not after EVERY fight, but lets just say we aren't talking 4-5 encounters between resting on a dungeon crawl. :D

1) Make or buy lots of wands of CLW; and/or

2) Change the rate of healing from 1 point/level/day to 1 point/level/hour.

Chase them, or make them chase somebody.

The resting thing is way to video-game-esque.

There should be some adventures / scenarios where rest / time is not important - take as much as you like. Others, it becomes too much of a maximization.

Have the bad guys they are waiting to juice up and attack actually attack them.

Give them a time limit to accomplish a quest. Resting takes time. If they are in a dungeon crawl, make resting dangerous unless they retreat to the secure area, then during their rest allow the inhabitants to respond, rearm traps, call in favors from distant friends. If one of the hobgoblins they are fighting is owed a favor by a nearby chief or a powerful bugbear barbarin, he might just call it in and make things that much harder for the PCs.

Have the bad guys scry. Odds are, someone in the party will notice sooner or later, and those nights of rest suddenly feel a lot less secure. If they figure it's no big deal, it's time to throw in the teleporting ambush squads. If they all wake up to prepare for an assult, let them wait. And wait. And wait. When they finally go back to sleep, let the scrying start up again.

Bad guys can have fun with Divination's too.
