The fallback

Actually, if we can't play dnd for some reason it's usually because we don't have enough people. So my fallback is prolly actually Roborally- it's a board game that, with a few zany house rules, becomes a fantastic 2-player game.

Heck, I could even see it as a cool 1-player game, properly house ruled (and with some liquor or recreational pharmaceuticals).

You'd rearrange your living room?
Not quite.

Henry's talking about the Hong Kong Action Movie RPG, which I'm playing a PbP of over at RPG.Net.

We're playing a game in the style of the Shaw Brothers Kung Fu movies, and right now, we've landed in some seriously bad ****. We've just learned that our beloved master is the bad dude behind the murder mystery that we've been embroiled in, and that something bad's going down back at our school. We've just killed three prominent members of the rival school, including the death of Sun Cheh at the hands of my character Wong Song in a serious Kung Fu battle. Sun Cheh was the brother of the woman that Song loves, and a pretty-boy bastard swordsman named Li Huang wants her for himself.

In other words, we've got a good old fashioned tragedy in the making here.

Anything I own but never play in a tabletop game, though if you want an order of preference...

1. d20 Wheel of Time
2. True20 (aka Blue Rose with the setting filed off)
3. Star Wars d20
4. d20 Modern
5. Arcana Unearthed
6. Unisystem Buffy/Angel
7. d20 CoC

Hmmmm....Warhammer, Pirates of the Spanish Main, or AU/E.

I'm kinda surprised Diaglo didn't make some kind of snarky comment about how "D20 Fantasy" is his fallback for the real D&D.

If D+D is not an option, what is your next preference?

Superheroes (Comic Book Super-Heroes d20 rules if possible)
Modern freaky arcana (like Brutorz Bill's too-short-lived Dark Memphis campaign)
TORG
Space Opera / Star Wars
Post Apoc

and if none of that's available I'll try some other genre. In short - given the time to RP, I'll play whatever's available to play. :D
