The Far Realm

Hello!

I have been reading the Demonic Lore thread that BOZ started as well as the Fiendish Codex thread and have been wondering if anyone has put together a resource list of links for The Far Realm.

One of my players has a character fascinated by it, yet I don't have many resources to draw from, other than Dragon 330 (April 2005) and Lords of Madness.

Can anyone help me with some online, PDF, book or other offline reseources?

Thanks!

A big question would be whether or not Eberron's Xoriat is the same as the Far Realm. While the two technically have different planar traits, I'd like to think that's because a realm of madness such as that defies even constant categorization as a plane (e.g. it has shifting planar traits, or traits that are different in different areas).

Given that, several of the monsters in the Eberron Campaign Setting or some other Eberron books may be of help to you.

There's also some website content, such as Blood Mothers, the Summon Blood Elemental spell, and the Kaorti Ubercyst.

Dungeon #118, "Shadow of the Abyss" has the PCs facing off against a kaorti sorcerer as part of the adventure. It includes a new feat that makes using kaorti weapons and armor easier to use.

Also, check out the original appearance of the Far Realm, back in the 2E adventure The Gates of Firestorm Peak.

I used to have this adventure, yet because of our gaming going in different directions I never really read or used it. And then it was part of an RPG house-cleaning. Well, I may have to buy the PDF.

Any other ideas? Anyone?

Awesome Grover!

I liked your insight on the Fiendish Codex thread and appreciate your contributions. I will use a lot of that material too, since demons and devils play a significant role in my game as well.

wait.... the blood elementals are from the Far Realm? where does it actually say that? I'll add it to the comp if i can get a definate "yes" on that.....

ps: oh yeah, I'm Slayer of Heroes over on the wizards boards.... it's nice to see somebody actually showing some interest in that thing. lol. :p

This was my list. It's not as extensive as some, as I'm kind of picky about what I consider to be "Far Realm" and what I consider to be just a weird-looking alien or extraplanar monster.

It doesn't out and out say that, but the flavor text on them and the Blood Mother seems to very strongly indicate that that's where they're from.
