The Rules

The rules are as follows:

JOINING
- Anyone can join the Fight Club(tm), but you MUST join before participating in a match against another. Speak to Kedi (or his henchmen) about membership.

CHARACTER CREATION
- All combatants start at 10th level ECL. You may level up as you gain wins in Kedi's Killing Fields.
- You are limited to the 3.5 Core Rule Books (DMG, MM, & PH) and all 3.0+ Forgotten Realms Campaign material (with a few exceptions due to 3.5 incompatabilities).
- Use the nonstandard point buy method (28 points) outlined in the DMG on page 169.
- You may spend up to 49,000gp (the typical amount for a 10th level PC) on general or magical equipment.
- You must submit your character stats to Kedi in some form or another before being aloud to participate, like this thread or via E-mail.

COMBAT RULES
- Kedi (or one of his henchmen) oversee all matches and act as DM.
- Kedi (or one of his henchmen) make all dice rolls, regardless of who's character the roll belongs to. We do not use the honor system.
- Any rules and/or arrangements not shown here can be decided upon by the contestants such as in-character bets, meeting times, etc. These non-standard rules and conditions are always placed in the first post before the match starts for all to see.
- You may also declare Mage Duels (from Magic of Faerun) if both contestants are arcane casters.
- Do not use signatures during combat posting. Turn them off so the page loads faster and places are easier to find.
- Winners gain XP and gold equal to the normal gain for beating a CR creature equivalent to their opponent(s) if the battle was lethal combat. If the battle is non-lethal combat (such as a Mage Duel) you only earn three/quarters this amount. Example: If you are a tenth level character fighting an opponent of like level, you earn 3,000 XP and 5,800gp if you win or three/quarters that (round up) if it was nonlethal combat.
- If you are short a human challenger, but wish to participate anyway, you may try and arrange a fight with one of the following NPCs:

Maeryln Beanre, Male Drow Wiz 7 (CR 9)
Roland Goodknight, Male Human Pal 10 (CR 10) - Deceased
Broth Gerundag, Male Human Ftr 4 / Blc 7 (CR 11)
Serena Darknight, Female Elf Rng 12 (CR 12)
Qilue Nadran, Female Halfling Rog 8 (CR 8)

All NPCs are run by the DM (Usually Kedi) as is normally done in home games.

ARENAS
- The default arena is a 500 foot diameter circle created of indestructable stone slabs laid down to create a flat, smooth surface. It is surrounded by rows of stands for people to witness the many varied matches. It is placed under a bright open sky and has no real cover or obstacles.
- Other arenas may be added in time by the leaders of Fight Club(tm), or even newly created ones by the partakers of the challenge (that means you) can be created before the match begins.

WINNING, LOSING, & YOU
- As noted above you can earn XP and GP awards for beating your opponents appropriate to the encounter.
- If your character is ever truly killed (-10 hit points) in a match, it can no longer participate in arena combats unless it is somehow brought back to life. This is normally done by sponsorship (another member pays for your ressurection), diety intervention (Kedi), or some other (usually pre-determined) source. Such sponsorships or "back-up plans" must be submitted here for all to see.
- If your opponent is killed (see above), you are entitled to anything and everything that character brought into the arena.
- You may throw in the towel at any time, doing so causes you to lose the match. In the event of a Deathmatch, your opponent cannot kill your character after you withdraw from the match. Doing so is considered murder, which usually puts a bounty on the killer's head.
- If both characters agree to draw, the character with the highest percentage of hit points remaining wins the match and gains the appropriate benefits.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
- All the above rules are subject to change. Changes will be listed right here on this post. If changes are drastic enough to change your character in some way, speak to Kedi before making them.
- Approximately once every month or two, Kedi and friends will host a tournament of sorts to see who is the current Fight Club "Champion." Tournaments work a lot like normal fights except Kedi chooses all of the fight's conditions (such as arena choice or other specilized rules) and you must earn the right to participate by having at least one win under your belt.
- The first battle has been concluded as of August 23rd, 2003 @ 5:21 p.m. (Eastern time) with Ravendark as the winner over Roland Goodknight.
- The second battle has been conluded as of September 2nd, 2003 @ 1:28 a.m. (Eastern time) with a mutual, verbally declared draw between Gip & Ravendark in their mageduel.
- The third battle has been concluded as of September 8th, 2003 @ 11:00 p.m. (Eastern time) with Thargon Nightbane as the winner over Eneralda Kasim. Unfortunately, a rampaging elephant (summoned by Emeralda's figurine of wondrous power) continued the fight and slew Thargon as well. To further complicate things, a veteran combatant, Ravendark, appeared on the field to claim both bodies as his undead servants and their equipment as his own. As he approached Thargon's corpse, he was crippled by Thargon's contingencied fireball, and then slain by Emeralda's conjured elephant.
- The fourth battle has been concluded as of September 21st, 2003 @ 10:30 p.m. (Eastern time) with Aust Evermoor as the victor over Eahrohear Nightbane.

Questions are to be submitted here and answered either by myself or Kedi (the real leader of this whole thing).

In addition to the NPCs and other members of this club you may also challenge my avatar: Ravendark, Male Sun Elf Nec 5 / Sha 5 (CR 10)

His bio is shown below:

Name: RavenDark, Gentleman & Necromancer most foul (a.k.a., The Unseen Death)

Sex: Male
Height: 5’
Weight: 94 lbs.
Age: 152 Years
Eye Color: Deep Green
Hair Color: Black

Appearance: R.D. is dark in both appearance and mood. With his long dark hair, pale skin, chiseled features, and intense gaze, he has an air of power about him that few others can match. He would be considered handsome if only it weren’t for his diminutive height, gaunt physique, greased hair, grim expression, and hooked nose.

Clothing: R.D. prefers loose clothing that is well suited to harsh weather and long travels in the cold environments of the North. He disdains the typical robes common to wizard-kind, realizing that such garments would only make him a target to his enemies. He also favors sets of clothing that allow him to hide material components and devices that may not be socially acceptable such as humanoid finger bones or the like. Nearly everything he wears: boots, breaches, gloves, and shirt, have been died a deep black to better match his grim outlook upon the world in which he lives.

Personality Description: R.D. is just as likely to grant someone mercy for a sever offense as he is to kill them for a small slight. Some say he is insane, but none say so to his face for fear of his retribution. He is always planning his next move, whether it is some evil plot, or proper chess strategy. R.D. is not a people person; unless he instigated the conversation, he is likely to ignore others completely. He constantly fidgets and murmurs to himself.

History/Background: R.D was born on the Elven isle of Evermeet long ago among his own race. When he became of age he apprenticed himself to a powerful wizard by the name of Resren Mourn and soon surpassed even his master in potential. Mourn disowned R.D. and cast him out, fearful of the power he may obtain if his training continued. R.D ended up leaving Evermeet to mainland Faerun in order to seek out solitude and a place away from discrimination against his chosen path in the Art. Before long, he found himself in a place called “Kedi’s Killing Ground.” Intrigued, R.D. entered the sanctum and made an unholy deal with Kedi in return for power and glory amongst the populace.

Favorite Quote: “Mourn your death, friend - for it is not a release from the things I shall do to you.” - Resren Mourn

Arcane Mark/Fight Club Flag: RavenDark stole his logo from his long dead master, Resren Mourn. Resren chose a grossly distorted asymmetrical skull with the right side painted black and the left side painted white on a backdrop with reversed colors (white on the right and black on the left) as his Arcane Mark. RavenDark has since adopted it as his Fight Club flag and logo. The colors of the flag represent his absolute dominion over the Art, both good and evil, while the grossly hazy appearance represents his distorted ethical and moral views of the world around him.

And here is the never-before-seen background of Gippedor Barnackle! He is a 10 level rock gnome sorcerer, ever ready for a mageduel!

Even since he was born,in a small rock gnome farming community in the Silver Marches,Gipp's wild red hair and vibrant green eyes marked him as an oddity. As a child he was frail, and not fit to do farming work, though he was very social and outgoing. While growing up,Gippedor showed a powerful aptitude for magic. At times of great stress strange things appeared to happen around the young gnome. He could move small objects, extinguish candles and change the taste of foods or drinks.Once he managed to produce a tiny flicker of flame, and almost burnt his mother's favorite dress! .His father, concerned about his son's future took him with his cart to Silverymoon,to be tested by the mage guild. The kindly old wizard that examined him revealed that he had great magical talent, but the Art could not be taught to him by spellbooks. He had it inside his blood, and in time it would fully surface. At the return trip they were waylaid by two orc bandits. His father was a decent warrior, and he managed to drop one of the orcs, but the second flanked him and dealt him a tremendous blow with his club to Gipp's father's back.At that time of desperation Gipp cast his first spell.Slippery grease coated the ground under the orc causing it to fall.Seizing the advantage,Gipp rammed his dagger down the orcs throat, killing the brute. When the two gnomes reached their village the healer deduced that his father's spinal cord had been so badly broken by the orcish club, that he would not be able to walk again.Gipp vowed revenge to the orcs. Some time later he joined with an adventuring group at Silverymoon, under a mission to exterminate some orcish outpost that threatened the Marches. They passed many adventures together, but they ultimately broke up after the group was almost obliterated by a white dragon.
The rest of the group retired, but Gipp's wanderlust about the world, and especially his hatred about orcs had not been extinguished. His travels have brought him to Kedi's Killing Grounds. He was intrigued to find a place where he could test his mettle and his sorcerous power against other combattants, and so he entered the tournament

Gipp is a gnome of average height. He dresses casually, and he could easily pass up as an ordinary gnome except for his eye and hair coloration. His red hair that are almost continuously unkempt and his vibrant green eyes are a clear sign of the magic coursing through his blood. He is friendly and jovial to most people, but he immediately takes a serious approach of his magic.Anyone taunting his spellcasting will find a very serious and potentially deadly opponent.Although he hates orcs with a passion he is open minded and will allow a particular orc or half orc to prove that he is not a murderous savage as most of his kin.He even had a very good half-orc friend in his adventuring group, that was among those killed by the white dragon. He feels bad about not being able to save him."I've only met half an orc that was worth it,and now he is dead" he says some times.Half joke and half lament for his old friend

Kedi,it's great you found us.Now the club can work again.I'm waiting for our ranks to swell.:) I added the membership to my sig.I am proud to be a member!;)

Oh and Kedi since Ravendark's battle is over I wish to challenge the champion of darkness Broth Gerundag in single battle!Gip will not allow him to continue tainting the land with his foul presence!
Whenever you are ready post to say when the battle begins

Only so little?

Kedi, did you end the encounter prematurely or did R.D. actually kill Roland? I would have though a tenth level paladin would of had more hit points than that.

Also, how did you calculate XP? According to the DM charts on page 38, his CR of 10 suggests that I should have earned 3,000 XP along with 5,800gp in prize money (the typical gp value reward for a CR 10 encounter). The low amount that you gave out further suggests that you may have let me win or something-that or your a stingy DM.

As the leader, you are fully entitled to change the rules, but how come you are not following them as written?

Sorry if this reads out to be ungrateful, its not meant to.

I wish every pc was as good as you!! :D

He had a lot HPs but you lowered him so badly so he just couldn't stand your vampyric touch. And I must be mistaken, everybody does. You find total:

1000xp,
a magical +2 longsword
a masterwork full plate,
a ring of protection +1

You're a good pc Ravendark, I apretiate your effort :)
