First Post
In this thread im going to gather all the final information that I decide on in the threads that im asking you to contribute to. I also have a google group that your quite welcome to join for the setting that I will be uploading files too at The First World | Google Groups

Im going to use this thread like an encylopedia and in each entry I will be structuring the information much like the old gray forgotten realms box.

At a Glance - This is the information that is commonly known by the player characters at the campaigns start. Sometimes very basic and sometimes very wrong this information will be a teaser for them.

A Deeper Look - This is more detailed information only found out when players and their characters search out knowledge about the subject and is structured as lore checks as per the monster manual but in increases of four ( DC8, DC12, DC16, DC20, DC24, DC28).

GM Secrets - This is information the players just could not possibly know or game or system info or long term campaign secrets.

I will then link each post to this first page in A to Z order, so slowly building the setting in post form. I will be constantly editing each post as information becomes clearer or expanded by myself or just change my mind! thank you in advance for your contributions.

Apple Lane

At a glance - The Village of Apple Lane is your homeland, the place of your birth. This quiet community is one of the mainstays of the fledgling Dalelands society.
Situated at the edge of one of the finest apple orchards in the First World, This wood simply known as "The Orchard" by locals is the source of the villages wealth, its name and even it's very existence. The orchards fine apples are your homelands lifeblood.

The village itself is a very small place, only a dozen main buildings surrounded by small houses and a few remote farms. many on the very edge of the orchard.

Apple Lane has formed and built itself into a firm self sufficent community in just three generations. This is your birthplace, your home in fact you know absolutely nothing of the outside world. Somewhat protected by both the orchard and its remoteness, Apple Lane has avoided the ravages of the great enemies and their armies of shadow until recently.

Over the last year many of the villages children and so you have heard of the neighbouring Dalelands villages of Oakhurst and Waymoot have run away.
Some nay sayers mention the Children of Graedil. You know many of these children in fact you grew up with them. these ongoing disapearancesof your fellows both unerves and worries you.

A Deeper Look - Apple Lane although seemingly peaceful and prosperous, has many threats nearby which threaten its existence.

Foremost amoung these is the Keep on the Shadowfell a malignant ruined castle deep within the Rainbow Mounds. This will be the Pcs first adventure as we get into the 4th edition.

Other threats include the Childen of Graedil, the Wargs on the northern border of the Orchard.

Buildings and Residents of Apple Lane

The White Dwarf Inn - The villages largest and oldest building named after the villages ancient dwarf Flint who built it many years ago. Now owned by Jeeka Farlore and his family, an impressive man who has been travelling and is also the major.

The Winewater Lake and Village Green - This beautiful still deep lake and well tended village green are where the villages community and religious celebrations occur. Both are attended by the Women's circle.

The Old Porter Mill - This well built red brick mill is responsible for much of the villages food. Run by Old Sandy, he is the village nosy parker and nay sayer, but people forgive him this as he is very hard working.

Harsuns Blacksmith - Owned by Harsun a huge Northman and his even huger wife Lila. he is taciturn, but very well respected in the village, fast friends with flint.

Flint's Smithy - The small smithy run by the ancient dwarf Flint Fireforge. Rumour has it Flint founded the community just after the Wrath of the Gods. The white haired Dwarf although prickly and somewhat deaf is well loved.

Ta'ss Leathworking - Owned and run by a perculiar Hobbit Tas Burefoot this shop and tanners provides the whole community with its shoes and other leather needs. Tas is considered strange as he is the only living Hobbit not living in Waymoot.

The Village Hall - This long low currently ramshakle building has recently been damaged in a storm. Here the villae gather for meetings and celebrations although recently the womens circle has taken over somewhat so the village council has been reduced to meeting at the inn.

Wisewomans House - Old Shani Apple Lane's wisewoman lives here. Head of the womans circle and the women would no doubt say the whole village! She is one of the oldest and most influential of the villages inhabitants. Famous for her ability to heal the sick and the ancient knowledge she knows. Has an ongoing friendly rivalry with the priest of Shalla, Landor.

Gastel the Peddlars Shop - The Jovial happy peddler Gastel is hardly ever here as he is most often travelling and trading his wares. When he does return there is much joy for as well as bringing much needed supplies, he also brings rare news of the world outside.

Esmers Stables - Esmer the beautiful owner of the villages only stables is a pretty unmarried woman in her thirties who settled in Apple Lane five years ago. Her horses are fine animals but the prices because of their rarity are exorbatent.

Bran's Woodworks - A tall, thin beardedlocal widower Bran is the villages carpenter always in demand for his sturdy furniture or pretty ornaments, or just for repairs. Bran is well liked despite his over indulgence sometimes in the fine apple cider from Waymoot.

Gringles Pawnshop - The strange character of Gringle only came to Apple Lane two years ago. supposedly a friend from long ago of Jeeka and Flint, he is mysterious and tight lipped and hardly ever here, always disapearing on buissness for months on end to obtain rare curiosities for his pawn shop. Although why he opened one here in Apple Lane is anyones guess. Who needs such trinkets? who could afford them anyway? Some say he may have Elven or Eladrin blood.

Temple of Shalla - This small temple is dedicated to the daughter of mercy Shalla. It is a humble place but blessed by the merciful goddess. Any check done to resist injury, disease, poison or death within its walls recieives a +2 bonus.

The old priest of Shalla Landor lives here maintaining the temple and tending to the needy and sick of the village. He is a kind old man of much faith and religious knowledge.

Statue of Shalla - the statue of the daughter of mercy is in her guise of a giant snow white dove holding the ancient symbol of life the golden key. Although erected over 40 years ago the statue reains in perfect condition, its silver white marble untocuhed by weather or age.
