The Flash Episode 3 - a review, Spoilers allowed

As for the Mist keeping pace with the Flash, it's also possible that the Flash running that fast caused a vortex behind him that sucked the Mist's gaseous form behind him in its wake....

Just a possible theory.

My biggest problem, and I understand I'm alone in this, is that I think the casting of the main character is awful. He's not a great actor, plus too young for my personal vision of The Flash. The Flash to me is a hyperactive energetic guy with a hell of a sense of humour.

I know what you mean, it seems that CW (or is it US TV) has a bias for employing young actors (I for one would have liked Wildcat in Arrow to be older (apparently the actor is 34)). But I don't mind that this Barry is being played as young and fresh, still coming to terms with himself and now his new abilities. It works with regard to his relationship with both West and Wells and I think gives the writers a bit of wriggle room that wouldnt be there with an older, more mature character.

I'm also happy that they dropped the hyperactivity, it always made the Flash seem like a goofball and that would have pushed the TV show towards campy (I'm still wondering how the Tricksters going to be played).

Trust me, you're not alone. All of his acting seems oddly forced. I'm trying to stay with it, though, on the off chance that he grows into the role. In the meanwhile I'm looking back fondly at the horrible 1990 version of the story that starred John Wesley Shipp, who now plays Barry's father.

Good news. Full season order, and the pilot just hit the most-watched CW showing, ever, something previously held by Arrow. I hope it continues to do as well.

I think Grant Gustin is great in the role -- he is likable and capable and although he may not necessarily be stiff, ernest Barry Allen, his Barry Allen is fun to watch grow into the role of hero. YMMV, of course.

Also, Ep. 4 was the best episode of the show yet!
