D&D 5E The Flumph!

Interesting! I like their story info. Different than Pathfinder's cosmic sages, but it fits the slight link that aberrations in D&D have with psionics. Works for me!

But guys, if you read the text, you know -- this flumph is sad, guys! He's a sad little flumph! That's....adorable!

I actually prefer this more basic story of the flumph to the Pathfinder version, which changed the flumph from a relatively (simple) creature to a species whose life mission it was to help save the universe. The flumph was cool on its own terms, it didn't need a grandiose story to be awesome.

Can someone please give a couple example encounters where this monster would be used, because I have played since the 1e days and this thing has never once graced my table, they are pointless wastes of space that could be used for a more interesting monster that might challenge the player characters.

See "Box of Flumph" from Dungeon 118.

I think the next set of adventures should be called, "The Trouble with Flumphs"

Okay, the alliteration isn't there..maybe, "The Flumph's Foibles"?

Here's a list of monsters I've never used: Aarakockra, Couatl, Flumph, Kraken, Merfolk, Modron, Nothic, Scarecrow, Tarrasque. And I was over it before I ended writing this post. It's a real shame they didn't bother consulting you before making the list on monsters for the book to cut down on the waste of space.
