D&D 5E The free online crunch: I don't think it's going to be as much as we think it is.

I'm not sure if this confirms or kills the OP's hypothesis, but:

"The genasi and the new spells in Princes of the Apocalypse will be a free download."

"The download will have a few other goodies, which could see print later, depending on popularity."

"We put together the extras after the fact; they weren't destined for the book."

Hmmm....

I rethink my list.

* Genasi, 1-2 races
* Spells, about 20
* A few backgrounds
* Maybe a sub-class

8-12 pages.

Hiya!

I don't care how much they do or don't put out, print, digital, or both. What I *do* care about is what they put out. I can take or leave "crunch" as much as I can take or leave "fluff"; the only things I completely abhore are:

For Crunch: Simply adding stuff to something. Someone up thread said something about elemental stuff....like "Lightning Strike: Your sneak attack does +1d6 lightning". <-- THAT is the stuff I'm talking about (taking it as-is). In it, a PC would just "get" something. It would be fine it it was "Lighting Forte: This replaces the characters 4th level Ability Score Improvement (or Feat, if used). ...". That replaces something, making it a trade off and not a "well duh!...why _wouldn't_ I take that?".

For Fluff: Anything that negates or otherwise nullifies any previous "canon" fluff. So, for example, having yet another uber-wizard show up who is the real Elminster....and the Elminster everyone knows, has read about, or encountered, were nothing more than simulacrums of said "uber wizard". Crap like that must not ever see the light of print.

So...additions that replace, or additions to previously vague or non-existent fluff....bring it on! All at once, or at a trickle doesn't matter to me. Just as long as it doesn't replace or invalidate. :)

yea, this gives me a cool idea for an elemental theme rogue subclass... It would replace sneak attack dice with elemental dice... it could be pretty cool... thanks for the idea.
