well the one with the dragon has a nice composition. I think It has a lot of fun potential color options with the dragon in the darkness with a possible soft glow coming from his mouth.

I beg to differ, the double-age landscape coloured spreads in W&M are simply amazing. Some of the best work I have seen in any D&D book.
Yep...the art in W+M has "adventure setting idea" all over it, and it's pleasant to look at, too. Excellent stuff.

I glanced through the other preview book and wasn't quite as taken with the character art - the 1e drawing on the front page here looks more like my idea of fantasy adventuers - but it's still a big improvement on the 3e character art.

I like the old school, April Fool's day art better than most all the art I've seen from 4.0 so far.
The truly funny thing is that the b/w image you're referring to isn't old. It's new (you can tell it was done on a computer). It's just meant to look old.

I like the invention of color too, but 4.0 has yet to use it very well :\

I have to disagree. While most of the character images do lack good color, and i dislike the hard shading style of the covers, their are a few images I have seen that have really nice color and some of the landscapes are just wonderful.

Are we talking about enworld Diaglo's OD&D news art, or the Wizards art?

I really like the white on black Dragon, but most of the stuff on the Wizard's page is intentionally poor, in fact much of it is the D&D art which is generally considered some of the worst ever (and with good reason).
