The Game Within the Game

It can be a lot of fun to have dice games (or other games of chance) for your PCs to play in taverns or elsewhere within your game world. Here's a link to a bunch on the WotC website (copy them while they are still free!)

How many of these have you used?

Do you have other dice games that your PCs play (describe them, please)?

Do you have card or other types of tabletop games that your PCs play (describe them, please)?

I haven;t used any lately but I really enjoy many of the dice games from the 1e DMG. I've also had a lot of fun with basic blackjack. Spottle from one of the adventures is also a good game.

The best one I can't remember the rules for though. It was from Star Wars but could easily have worked in D&D. It dealt with rolling d6's and trying to form a good hand with the numbers rolled. And for some reason 3 4's was the best hand. It was good because there was a random element that made it tough to sit on a good early hand. It also had built in rules for cheating. I have the rules in a folder in a trunk or box in th garage somewhere.
