The Githyanki Incursion

Just got the new Dugneon/Poly, featuring the big Incursion crossover event extravaganza.

The "minigame" in Poly is actually just a variant D&D setting --- githyanki as PCs. Very nicely done --- lots of crunchy stuff, but also lots of cultural details that ring true, and of also of great value in a game where the githyanki are NPC bad guys.

I'd love to see WotC [or Paizo, I guess] do this sort of work on one of the other less-used evil races --- say, spriggans, or duergar. After being inundated with information about the drow for so many years, it would be great to see some totally different bad guys step up and get the same level of development.

I agree with JPL, this latest issue is great. I don't know where they got the idea to devote so much space to Githyanki, but I did mention something very similar on these boards when Paizo initialy took over the magazine. Obviously it's just coincidence but it makes me feel important. Nyah.

My only complaint is that they didn't really incorporate much in the way of psionics into the articles. A note here, a mention there. That's it. Part of the apeal of Githyanki is how dangerous they are because of psionics. However, it doesn't really matter all that much since it's fairly easy to incorporate.

All of which is to say, BRAVO Paizo! Keep it up.

Hell Yeah!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Githyanki are woefully underapreciated and underused. If you add Githzerai and Mind Flayers into the mix the possibilities are endless.

The Gith-Flayer-Gith wars are just too cool a concept to not milk for a year. If WotC doesn't do it, I think their missing something big.

Go straight with "Year of the Gith" with the plot to unify, and a little appreciation for the other side of the Gith... my favorite PC race, the hard-nosed, hard-hearted, hard-fisted Githzerai.

Because it's been the Year of the Drow for a whole decade now. Time for a change.

Frankly, the drow have really become overused and boring when it comes to villians. I'd love to see WotC give us as much information on mind flayers, duergar, githyanki, etc. as they have with the drow.

Probably won't happen, though. Too bad.
