The Greatest Music Tour Ever.

First Post
So it is my pleasure to announce to you the greatest tour lineup EVER will be touring North America this coming spring/summer.

Buckle up kids, this isn't any emo band group suicide, or Black Metal church burning ... this is the Progressive Nation 2008 tour.

This tour is headlined by Progressive rock/metal titans Dream Theater and is supported by the kings of Progressive Death Metal, Opeth, the Progressive Rock group Three, and the monsters of Progressive Metalcore: Between the Buried and Me.

Anyone who knows metal knows Dream Theater. I've included the band websites, feel free to check them out. You all have no idea how stoked I am about this. I love Dream Theater, enjoy Three, and find Between the Buried and Me a good, but acquired, taste and considering Opeth is my favorite band... I'll most certainly be at a show! You have no idea how excited I am about this...

*waits for tour dates and tickets*

:D C'mon Canadian dates! PLEASE!! That is such a bloody wicked line-up of artists. Never heard of Three though, and I can't say I've listened to much DT.

But Opeth and Between the Buried and Me? I'm in!

cheers,
--N

Three is kinda what you would get if you mashed Anathema and DT together. Very chill but musically talented progressive rock.

Dream Theater simply rocks! I've been a fan of theirs since When Dream and Day Unite.

I just heard some Three the other night...it reminded me of a better, slightly heavier version of Coheed & Cambria.

As for the others...I'm slowly warming towards Opeth.

I'm not really sure what to make of it. The only band I'm a huge fan of is Dream Theater, and I wasn't a huge fan of Systematic Chaos. I don't really consider myself a DT grognard, but I've never liked their heavier stuff. I think it's more a matter of DT progressing more and more to prog metal and shredding than actual prog rock. Also, I'm sure it has to do with my changing tastes as well.

It will be a great tour, and I'll probably go if I can find money and time. I'm just not as excited about it as I might have been once. I got really excited about the 20th anniversary show (and I'm pretty sure I'm on the DVD), but they didn't play much heavy stuff at all... probably by design.

Favorite band. I think that you're hard pressed to find fill in ANY one of their albums.

Between the Buried and Me are certainly an acquired taste ... I just recommend that people look up their lyrics and realize how amazing it is.

Sorry to hear that Phoenix. The more I listen to DT I think that Six Degree of Inner Turbulence or Octavarium are their best albums, Petrucci seems to really be at his peak during Octavarium.

To each their own.

I actually like large swaths of both albums, especially the eponymous song on SDoIT. Of the recent albums, it's really Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos I'm not a fan of. Given the tour, I suspect they'll be playing more of that kind of stuff. I don't mean to say it's bad per se, and maybe I am a grognard. Bah, you damn kids! :p

So long as it's nothing like Hella. What a waste of stage and air  (*is still angry at going to System of a Down a couple years ago and having to sit through 30 minutes of a chicken singing bad poetry going through a blender with a keyboard played by a trained monkey going off in the background*).

Sorry about that. Still sore about artsy-fartsy noise rock. And it's 4am here and I have to go do a double shift tomorrow at work....

cheers :D:D,

Hey someone's gotta keep the genre alive... ;)

Oh and Nyaricus, I'll see if I find a Three song hosted someone legal for you, I'd host it myself, but don't want to anger the Mods...

EDIT: They have 4 songs hosted on their Myspace page. 3 myspace page
