The Greyhawk Schism?

Wow. Thanks for posting that, grodog! And here I thought everything from the previous edition of these boards was gone forever. :) I'm glad you saved Eric Mona's summary.

The Greyhawk Schism is between the 50% of Greyhawk fans who think the setting jumped the shark with the release of "from the ashes" in the early 90s, and the other 50% of Greyhawk fans who think the setting jumped the shark with the release of 3rd Edition.

Then there's the rest of us, who think Greyhawk jumped the shark back when the first booklet came out in the late 70s. :p

You do realise that it costs precisely ZERO to access this, and that the regional websites have plenty of information that also costs nothing. And that it takes diddly squat effort to run a "sanctioned game".

And that Erik Mona, AFAIK, was largely responsible for starting Living Greyhawk.

But who wants to run a home game under the same restrictions the con games have?

For me the Schizm is Seargent's material. The Great Kingdom never fell in my game.

You're welcome, Buttercup. Erik's post made a strong impression at the time, and has proven to be well-worth saving. I can't count back to how many versions of the boards ago that was, but it's been quite a few....
