The Groundhog Campaign

End reason for the someone:

As the players level up with the encounters, the someone is still trying to get the twon to change into a magicical conduit that gives access to the 'old ones' (think Cathulahuish) so he can . .

someone else can continue this thought...

Maybe the time loop is a way to eliminate the PC's (since all other plots have been foiled) so as to keep them occupied for eternity.

I've always wanted to make a Groundhog Day adventure with some Cthulhu thrown in. Something like:

- PCs are the failsafe for a military experiment, so they're highly trained experts drawn from a variety of fields (i.e. an excuse to work together).

- The military experiment is an insane foray deep into stuff Man Was Not Meant To Know(tm), and of course it goes horribly wrong. Maybe it's the Large Hastur Collider.

- So, the PCs have to stop the experiment, and they have as many "lives" as they want to try to accomplish this, but two things stick with them: their experiences (XP), and the horror of their experiences (insanity points).

I think it might be an interesting scenario to change the limited resource from life to sanity, but I don't know the right system for it.

Cheers, -- N
