The Hill Giant in melee

Nothing horrifies the party fighter more than having his shiny sword smashed to bits right before eyes then being clubbed over the head. Make sure the giant has piles of rocks around to throw at pesky archers an spell cannons.
:\ You know, front liners are hosed more than enough by the time they are fighting giants. I'd reccommend Brutal throw and Power throw to nail the casters in back so they can feel the pain the fighter usually has to suffer... :]

Well, I'm not one to screw the players - I already picked out the giant's feats last session and he did encounter them at range with his rocks.

However, I did post the clarification on the giant in melee to my gaming group's yahoo group.

So, a lot more tumbling and flanking now, methinks.

If it's a loner, have him retreat into a cave so that only one or two PCs can fight him directly. If you feel evil, have him retreat back to a place where several tunnels meet with more hill giants waiting. "Welcome to our modest home, medium sized intruder!!"

Give the Hill Giant Imp. Overrun in place of Imp. Bull Rush. That way, if the players attempt to swarm the giant, he can knock one while moving away from the others (though they might get an AoO). Alternatively, he could just plow past the fighter on his way to threaten the wizard.

Give the HG a spiked chain weapon, Improved Trip, Disarm, Specialization, etc. and watch him tear through unsuspecting pcs. Have him hog-tie a few pcs, toss them into sacks, and comment all the while about roasting them later over a spit.

Give him a level of Psychic Warrior and the Expansion power for 15' natural reach and improved weapon damage. If you're feeling really cruel, combine this with the spiked chain suggestions.

This one's simple:

Just don't tell your players that you know the actual rule now. They swarm the giant. He pounds them mercilessly. They complain. You show them the rule. I think that's enough! :)
