The House of Rath: Prologue

Meliria, on the prowl

Striding over to the door of the Golden Songbird, Meliria pulls the cowl of her cloak up over her hair, messing it even further. Without further ado, she flings open the door (letting in a blast of chilly, damp air, and provoking further cries to "Shut the damn door!"), and steps outside.

[sblock]Per Glandred's post, I will assume Gladred will also exit the tavern at around this time. Others in the tracking group may also wish to exit, assuming that we all want to talk to Kalgar.[/sblock]
Once outside, Meliria pauses to string her longbow, absentmindedly caressing the smooth curved wood. I'll bet my great-great-grandfather never thought his bow would come to one such as me, Meliria thinks. A wistful half-smile crosses her lips. I'm no hero, no elf-warrior of old. But I am Meliria.

Pressing her slim body against the wall of the tavern, Meliria creeps towards the mouth of the nearby alley. Her left hand holds her longbow, with arrow readied. Her right brushes the wood of the tavern walls as she passes along.

[sblock]Meliria will Take 10 on her Hide (+7) and Move Silently (+7) checks, so those results are both 17. She will also make some Spot/Listen checks (+2) as she goes.

As we forgot to ask what Kalgar looks like (whoops), Meliria will simply peer into the alley next to the Golden Songbird and see what she sees.[/sblock]

Seeing the elf slip out the door and the dwarven lass ready, Nysa stands and makes her way to the door, slipping on her gauntlets as she does. She then opens the door and steps outside, taking up her shield. The heavily armored woman waits for the others, as she goes over those spells which were granted by the Morninglord earlier that day.

Sorry it took me so long to get involved

[OOC:Since I have some catching up to do, I'll go with the group that is the most lopsided]

Atavy joins Nysa outside. He looks up at the armorclad warmaiden, brushes aside hair form his blood-stained face, and asks "So, you do the talking?".

[sblock]... I take it that we'll assume Daneel was close to the conversation then but did not join in, but has not been noticed by Taurus earlier...[/sblock]

The crowd inside the tavern has now dwindled to but a few tables by now, but the outstanding performance that is being given by the half-elf raises the attention of many, including Glar's. As he plays, Daneel not only notices the smiling replies of the tavern occupents but also receives some valued droppings from a few patrons: 5 gp. "That is a lovely tune," exclaims a lovely-looking lady as she gives the bard a gold piece.

The cold breeze of the exiting storm shocks each and every patron that leaves the warm welcome of Mr. Biskbyr's place. Though the rain has ceased, clouds still loomed overhead and hid the stars and moon from the sky. All but a few of bright street lanterns that lined the streets earlier that evening have been blewn out by the elements. The light from the Golden Songbird was still strong however.

Meliria made her way to the side of the tavern and found the alleyway that the merchant Taurus had hinted to. As the moon elf peered around the corner, ready for any hostile suprise, she noticed a lone figure resting on the ground with its back against the side of the tavern about twenty-five feet away, eluminated by a small lantern. The ground was littered with dirty puddles, but the dwarf that layed there in one obviously cared not for it. He had an empty wine bottle in his hand and wore a dirty cloak. The rogue noticed that the dwarf, a gold dwarf, was not asleep, maybe in a drunken daze, but not asleep, and was mumbling in a tongue unknown to her knowledge (or perhaps to anybody's knowledge in this case). He just layed there staring at his feet, mumbling and hick-uping.

Nods to the Halfling wondering if that is real blood or merely some sort of paint... "I can take care of that, yes."

[sblock] Atavy... Where does it say worship of Malar is legal in Cormyr? Merely wondering how they would allow an evil deity to be worshipped.[/sblock]

"Thanks to you good lady" Daneel says as he looks up. Realizing that the crowd is thinning and cursing himself for losing track of time he scoops up his takings for the evening and makes planes to meet with the rest of his other companions at the merchant center the next day...

Meliria spends several seconds observing the slumped form of Kalgar. Of the alley, indeed, she thinks to herself. And isn't that just like a dwarf? To be lying in a drunken stupor on a night like this. That's what happens when you spend too much time underground and don't get enough fresh air.

Meliria lowers her bow, puts her free hand to her mouth, and clears her throat in an exaggerated fashion. "Ahem... Are you Kalgar? Taurus sent us to speak to you."
[sblock]At this point, Meliria (Cha 8) will defer to Nysa, or someone else, to do the negotiating.[/sblock]

At hearing the elf start in conversation with someone, not to mention that she mentioned Taurus when Taurus said not to mention him, she shakes her head as she makes hear way about the corner By the gods elf, I would figure you could at least remember a warning not said mere moments ago. Now I have to fix your blunder." and she sighs.

Nysa speaks up as she moves ahead of the elf, hoping the dwarf will focus on her and not Meliria, "Well meet Kalgar of Kalgar's Alley. I do hope this rainy evening finds you in better spirits then others I have talked to this eve. I have heard that you might know something of the recent disappearances of the woodsmen of Wheloon. Should you happen to know anything, I would be interested in knowing what it is you know." She then goes into a low crouch to be at a more even level with the dwarf and again put the focus more on herself then the others present. "I could perhaps make sure that you have another bottle of spirits to keep you warm for the rest of the night, if that is your fancy?"
