You know what annoys me the most about this guy's post. It's that he tosses out things about the government controlling the media. What bothers me is that the government does control the media in so many countries and that people in those countries won't give what he said a second thought.

I mean, I worked at a cable tv network, but I couldn't get it through his skull that there were no government "watchdogs" roaming the halls, monitoring everything like he seems to think they do.

That's what I hate about the internet. Guys like this are representing me to the world, if you know what I mean.

For example, a long while ago, I got into an online argument with a crazy French guy. Now, I like to believe that most French people don't think Canada is part of the US or, at the very least, that if you pointed this fact out to them they wouldn't jump down your throat and call you a Nazi (yes, I was called a Nazi for telling him that Canada wasn't in fact a US state).

Now, if there are any French people reading this, I'm sure they are cringing at the fact that this guy is crazy and makes them look like idiots.

Well, I know some pretty crazy French folks but they are cool and know it so it's all good. But seriously, this sounds like someone who has NO idea what he is ranting about. Plus, it's entertainment any way you slice it, to me. Now, whether or not I liked the film, it is a diversion. If someone wants to read into it then so be it. Don't let it get to you, man.

Honestly, I don't know. The group seems pretty reasonable as a whole, with just this guy being nuts, so I'd hate to leave it.

OTOH, what is he going to see in League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen when it comes out? Are we going to get another "secret, evil government" message?

Overall, it isn't so much of what he'll say to me as the throbbing headache I get reading his posts. I mean, talking about how the Hulk should kill soldiers and stuff because in real life soldiers deserve to die is just so...hateful, you know?

He asked for my opinion of the film in his last post, but I'm not going to respond. Especially since I really liked it. It wasn't perfect, but its certainly up there with Superman and X-Men in terms of "serious" superhero films.

I think I'm just going to keep quiet and not respond. If he presses me, I'll just quit the group. Even though it irritates me that people will look at that as him "winning" the argument, you can't debate someone who's paranoid.

In truth, I just want to respond, "You, sir, are nuts. I really have no idea what you see when you look at the world, but it sure isn't reality. Haven't you noticed that no one else in the entire world is seeing the same things you do in this film? Do a search of the internet, go on I'll wait. Did you find any other rants about 'hidden messages'? No? Funny, huh? You condone, no, actively cheer on the villain of the film. A murderous psychotic who's killed numerous people and experimented on his own son. And you give us grave warnings about the 'evil' of the government and military? Personally, I am thankful that the military is here to protect me from people like you. I think you need psychiatric help."

But, I think that would set him off.

Do you feel a need to convince him about this or to change his world view? If not, I see no harm in letting this guy believe what he wants to believe. And if this guy is stressing you out, yeah I'd just stay away from him if I were you.

This guy sounds like a paranoid schizophrenic, albeit one of the more lucid varieties. I would not respond to this guy, I would not take one thing he says seriously, and I would certainly not try to reason with him. Seriously, give this fellow a wide berth. This sounds like the kind of person who hunts you down and stalks you because he thinks you must be part of the conspiracy.
