The inner or real Demon?

I was wondering wich kind of Demon (Devil, Monster etc.) that people would least want to face.

Now forget the powerlevels or any similar method of definition. We will assume that their potential experiencevalue are the same.

In your nightmare wich is worst?

A) A Symbolic Demon: It's physical body doesn't have to make sense. It is the kind that wispers in your ears at night. The kind that is focused on your mind rather than your body. Chance of survival here is bigger than with choise B.. Physically that is.

B) A horrific dreadnought: The Aliens from the Aliens movies, The tyranid (sp?) army from Warhammer 40K etc. The kind of encounter where the best thing you can hope for is a fast death.
Oh yes.. And do not assume you will be raised. Not this time.
No matter what is normal.

I would go for A. Mostly because of the unknowen facter of what your up against. But I know of people who claims to feel different.

The physical one would be more dangerous... I'm mad enough as it is, and it'd take more than strange whispers to throw me any more off-balance.

I'd rather face the first demon. Even with a dark spirit whispering in your ear its still up to you whether or not you want to listen, and if you do give in to its influence you can at least *try* to set things right afterward.

If a physical monster attacks you and devours you, well, that's pretty much it.

A real, physical demon is much more frightening to me than inner demons. I face those every day

Don't forget. "Inner demons" in this case are those that can cause you to start hallucinating to the state where you start ripping out your own eyes cause you think they have a life of their own. Or make you doubt all you belive in. Hell can also be a state of mind. Think about how far people are willing to go just to have a purpose in life. A meaning..... A Truth. An "Inner Demon" can change these things.

The "Inner Demons" could be the ones who would make a child kill her parents while they sleep.
