D&D General The Joy of the Mashup - what I found.

Doing an X files format is a decent campaign model. Every other week/adventure is a stand alone monster of the week/contained mystery, then every other week has the recurring plot.

Storm Kings Thunder and Tyranny of Dragons is pure gold when mashed together. A full campaign of PCs in a large sandbox caught in the crossfire between Giants and Dragons.

Epic, you say?
Sandbox nature of Storm King's Thunder lends itself well to mashups with other adventures you can weave in between. Especially anthologies, liek Candlekeep Mysteries or Keys from the Golden Vault, work well here. I have one ambitious project I am still considering exact shape of, but it would include mashing STK with Rime of the Frostmaiden, to push the entire giants plot into the Icewind Daled. I was also considering a continuation that includes Storm King's Descent, Against the Giants and Anauroch: the Empire of Shade, with Shade Enclave replacing Red Wizards. I could potentially also include How the Mighty are Fallen from 2e if PCs end up time travelling, as it nicely ties ending of the RotF (where PCs can travel to the time pieroid of Netherese Empire) with Empire of Shade (where villains are remnants of the Netherese Empire).

I’ve mashed up Ghosts of Saltmarsh with White Plume Mountain and Against the Giants.

I am also currently mashing up Temple of Elemental Evil with UK4-When a Star Falls.
I am currently running huge mashup of Ghosts of Saltmarsh that, so far, has included Isle of Dread, Sea King's Malice, Shore of dreams, several Candlekeep Msyteries adventures, White Plume Mountain, Castle Amber and some homebrew. I would probably in future like to run Ghosts of Saltmarsh + Isle of Dread + White Plume mountain alone, a more streamlined experience, for a differnet group. Another alternative is Ghosts of Saltmarsh + Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel.

Some other mashups I consider at one point or another to run:
  • Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage + Princes of the Apocalypse + D series from AD&D for more of a dungeon where PCs can choose which places or levels ot explore and treat of Elder Elemental Eye looms over.
  • Heroes of Baldur's Gate + murder at Baldur's Gate + Phandelver and Below: Shattered Obelisk - basically eliminating parts of the Phandelver module I've run already as Lost Mine of Phandelver and replacing them with Baldur's Gate content
  • If I ever get to Vecna: Eve of Ruin, that adventure's going to look much, MUCH different, with content from several other modules, specifics will depend on from which setting will the PCs be, but I seriously consider Under the Dark Fist and A Paladin in Hell regardless of other parts.
  • Another one that comes to my mind lately is mixing Pathfinder Kingmaker with CM1: Test of the Warlords and M1: Into the Maelstrom and M2: Vengeance of Alphaks, the latter three have a good guide on merging them, and they'd be a fitting finale for Kingmaker storyline.

Dragon Heist, Keys from the Golden Vault & Curse of the Crimson Throne which fixes all the issues with Dragon Heist.
Do tell!

Me, I'm planning SKT/ToD as many others, with Against the Giants added. Maybe use some Ironfang Invasion.
I'm also considering Tomb of Annihilation with parts of the Serpent's Skull adventure path and Return to the Tomb od Horrors (start with part 1 of SS, let them be picked up by a ship leading to ToA, continue with the last two adventures mashed together from SS, get them back to the mainland for an unrelated adventure, go with RttToH).
