The LA +1 Human, Half-Orc, and Half-Elf

They did something similar to this in Midnight. All the base races got beefed up, making everyone seem a lot more different than it is usually.

I like the idea of everyone starting with paragon levels - although I personally would start everyone with all 3 paragon levels. But then, that's my take. Yours is equally good if you prefer starting at level 2.

The Half-Elf

You'll note this Half-Elf is slightly off - I've renamed the Elf to Half-Elf, and Elves in my campaign are a bit more fey, and less common as a PC race - they'll probably be statted up to be more the level of Drow. That's neither here nor there.

A Half-Elf as LA +1:

* Medium size, 30 ft spd.
* +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, +2 Charisma
* Immunity to magical sleep, +2 saves vs Enchantment spells or effects.
* +2 Bonus to Listen checks.
* Elfsight: A half-elf can see thrice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions. (x3 range on torches, etc) She also gains a +4 bonus to Spot and Search.
* Elven Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-elf is an elf.
* Favored Class: Any.

The +2 Charisma add-on is a slight simplification of the bonuses to Gather Info/Diplomacy, combined with the general +2 to Charisma-skills from the Half-Elf Paragon in UA. Granted, a +2 Chr is only a +1 bonus, but, it's actual Charisma instead of just a across-the-board skill bonus.

Eh. This is probably the weakest of the three, but, hey, so is the original Half-Elf, I suppose :)

Thanks for any comments!
