The Magister's Staff (Power focus as a class feature)

By the way, I don't know what you're doing with wizards, but everyone I've ever seen given the option to play a wizard or a magister seems to wind up with the magister. I think that the tradeoff of more hit points and great flexibility of spells for less potential spell access (no magic missile, frex*) is worth it.

*Spell Treasury is going to bring in a lot of SRD spells. This will probably remove one of the last "obstacles" some folks perceive to using AE magisters.

I'm not using the Magister. I'm simply adding the "Magister's staff" feature to the base wizard. I'm also adding spell points, and ritual casitng rules to my magic system. It just something that fits the way I see magic work in my homebrew.

Excellent point on the focus. Staff is big and vulnerable. Rings are not. Maybe I can tie the focus to the Item creation feats??? Though I am using the AU item creation feats, so that is not too clean.

How about everyone starts with a staff or wand and can take a feat to turn there focus into a "wearable" itme at higher levels. One of the prereqs would be the create constant item feat???
