I'm pretty sure I'll buy AU, but I doubt it'll actually replace by PH or get added into my game wholesale. I really don't like the idea of more than a dozen or so core classes, and I have my own list of races for my homebrew.
Rather, since I've pretty much determined that I need to overhaul the magic mechanics almost completely to make myself happy, I'll be using it as an inspiration and a check to see how Monte balanced things, especially the different sorts of spells. Since it sounds like things are still largely slot based, I don't think I'll use his system as-is, but I can still learn a lot from the way he multiclasses his casters.
I've also decided that, with a revision of magic, I'll need to revise all the classes that use magic. That is, all but the Fighter, Rogue, Monk, and Barbarian, and I don't much care for the Barbarian. I'll be grabbing many ideas from AU on that front, too. It sounds like he's got some rather interesting classes and they should be well balanced. I'm especially interested to see how the different fighter-types are different since I like sword-slinging heroes more than spell-slinging heroes.
Basically, I've resigned myself to the idea that I'm not going to be playing D&D in 6 months, anyway. It'll just be my own little d20 game. I figure I've got as much reason to bastardize AU as 3E (and by extension 3.5). After all, they both come (at least in part) from his head.
