The more I read about Arcana Unearthed...

Having now read the article on truenames, and having kept up withe the design diary, the more I find myself exclaiming, "Cool!" and start thinking about stashing away an extra $40.00.

Darn you, Monte! You're gonna make me buy this thing, too, aren't you!?!?!

:D

Me too! I'm looking forward to this so much more than D&D 3.5!

I appreciate the kind words, but I wanted to address this specifically:

I was bummed about not getting in on one of the Arcana Unearthed games at GenCon, but I'm still going to pick it up.

It is being released at GenCon, isn't it?

Yes, it's being released at GC, and what's more, there are more AU games to be added to the con schedule. For some unknown reason, GC STILL hasn't put in the vast majority of events--we not only have 4 more sessions of AU, but lots of seminars, including one that we're called "Design Diary Live" where I'll talk more about the process and the decisions made.

I'll try to be sure to post something when the convention gets around to putting up our events.

Now this is worrying... Are we still gonna have a DnD ENWorld? Or is it gonna be a AU ENWorld?

I, too, am very interested in AU - Monte's design diaries are doing a very good job of priming the pump for me. I'm not interested by the sound of his fighting and skill using classes at the moment, nor any new dog-people and cat-people races, but I'm very interested by the new magic system, magic using classes and especially by the integration of truenames.

Earthsea was probably my first fantasy exposure to wizardry (if you discount LotR), and it has had one of the greatest impacts on my thoughts about magic in games. I'm keen to see how Monte has implemented some of this stuff.

I guess I'll end up integrating 3.5e into my current campaign, and look at AU for the campaign that follows this one... time will tell.

Cheers

Monte, I can not tell you how cool the book is, we are thrilled about it and really enjoy the system. I have even talked to my gaming group and we may do a AU game after GenCon! It really is that good.
Congrats Monte!

We have been working onSiege on Ebonring Keep for a bit now so we have seen all the mateial for AU and I can tell you it is absolutely awesome. Real imagination inspiring material and the new rules, like true names and such, that have been mentioned are balanced and really cool.

The team that is writing Siege has been really inspired by AU and I think the general gaming public will be as well.

Monte, if someone wanted to, hypotheticly mind you, break into your house and ransak the place looking for AU material, what type of Pick Locks check would they need for your front door? And what about the Use Computer check to get into your computer?

Not that I'm asking for any particular reason...

Yeah, a "me too" post

OK, I've read it. And I love it.

And, I'll be honest...

I like it better than D&D at the moment.

Maybe it's the freshness. Maybe it's the wonder that takes me back to the early days, learning the ins-and-outs of D&D the first time.

Maybe it's just that Monte's filled the book with super-coolness.

The bottom line is that Arcana Unearthed rocks!
