The most important people in the world (my players stay out)

Agzan Ash-maker, reclusive Belker sage. Mainly focused on the idea of the clouds falling out of the sky, he believes this event can be forestalled, briefly, if only everyone would be willing to begin burning, anything and everything, to create massive amounts of smoke and ash. He has developed an incantation that will keep the clouds from falling for a brief time. Of course, he will neglect to mention that he has an evil plot of his own (considerably less evil than the destruction of the world, however). What he does not know, is that poisoning the sky will actually weakens the worms, slightly, which is how his scheme manages to forestall the end.

Pun-Pun the mighty kobold
Adept 1
Not the better known first level kobold, he just happens to be lucky. Very lucky. Extremely lucky. Only rolls 20s lucky. Some people at the conference speculate it's due to cosmic resonance, others believe it's just a huge coincidence.

He was selected by lot from his kobold clan to find out why their eggs are rotting, and somehow (he won't go into details) wound up at the meeting.

A typical kobold in looks, dressed in the traditional and practical mining gear/robes of the priest hood, who believes (as told by his clan's elders) that the world is itself a giant egg, and something is hatching out of it. Something that's taking the life from the unborn to bring itself to life. His recommendation is that they dig a mine to the center of the earth and fight it before it awakens.

Azari-Kai, the ghost of what was
LG Huge Ancient Advanced Gold Dragon Ghost

This creature appears as a swirling gray cloud with gold flecks in the vague shape of a dragon. It is the ghost of the world that existed before this one, the world that failed to avert this tragedy once before. Forbidden by the powers of the present world from speaking of how to stop the doom they are discussing and also forbidden to act directly against it, this powerful spirit seethes with frustration. It does not want to be joined by another spirit of yet another dead world.

Azari-Kai will do all in its limited scope in this matter to help those attending to understand what is happening. Although unable to speak directly of this event it can answer yes or no questions with a nod. Using this means of communication it will try it's best to lead someone to a scroll that has additional information regarding this matter. Although obtaining the scroll is no easy task, as it is the phylactery of the only other creature to survive the last world. A lich of great power named Miragrant Uncatus.

Valgoth the Invincible.

Ftr3/Paladin15/Divine Chamption of (Lawful Good)10.

A very traditional knightly type, Valgoth isn't the most intelligent of people. He's good natured, somewhat naive, but stubborn as a post. He tends to act before he thinks, which is
almost always, and hes one of those people.

You know. The ones that everyone looks to in a moment of crisis.

The problem is he often hasn't a clue what to do in that moment. He thinks, unfortunately, with his heart. And he's unlikely to think twice when he notices evil at this gathering.

Think traditional knightly type on his dragon, entirely caught up in the affairs and hasn't a clue what to do next. He is a man of action, and due to the fact he is upset he is very likely to create it, hoping it'll work out for the best. He just wants to go and hit things.

The more the conversations get bogged down, the more frustrated he will get. He'll likely leave at the first suggestion that might do something, or if he's forced to converse with an old enemy (or new evil) he'll often start fights.

The problem, of course, is that he is entirely too powerful to be dealt with easily. He's got the kit, the money, and the saves to cope with almost everything.

Plot Hook: Valgoth rocks up; PC's have to somehow prevent him from causing the entire conversation to explode with lightning death from every quarter. Valgoth will likely pick fights with whoever is nearby, assuming the "evil" characters (ones he can detect) are conspiring.

Valgoth is that annoying fire-starter that gets everybody going at everybody. There's so many NPC's here that would normally kill each other at first sight that it won't take much to set them off. Valgoth is the perfect fight-starter.

Too late; a PC already fits this template. :D

Hmm. As a joke I once statted up Klixxit, a male paragon ethereal psionic ghast half-troll negative-energy infused kobold Sor20 of legend. He's dreamy. And almost appropriate!

Okay. We'll call it a lock, although I'll gladly take more if you want to offer them! Thank you folks so much - this is going to be a huge help.

I'll move this thread into People, Plots & Places for ease in finding it later. I'll slide it back, with updates, when I've run the adventure.

Actually, I had one more idea that I forgot to post yesterday.

The Hive " Sisters "

The five women were part of a brutal experiment by a cabal of skilled transmuters. All five were infected/transformed into entomanothropes: People who can take the form of insects and arachnids. Furthermore, their latent telepathic powers (the reason they were chosen for this experiment) were increased manyfold, partially by allowing them to tap into the collective minds and power of eusocial insects. For while insects are next to mindless, tapping into the network of billions, or trillions of them, their meager intelligence has a cumulative effect for the Hive Sisters.

Racial tensions, of their insect sides, run high within the group, particularly between the were-bee and the were-wasp, and between the two were-ants and the were-termite, though relations between members of the two different groups are somewhat less homicidal.

While they cannot exert control over their related species by themselves, it is conceivable that if they could be convinced to join a metaconcert, their combined telepathy would be truly awe-inspiring, and controlling the actions of insects would be but a minor feat for such a union. If they didn't kill each other in the process.

Lady Chaos. Half-fiend Ftr 10 / Wiz 20++ /Acm 5++. Possibly other classes too. CN(G). Always accompanied by two dogs - one white, a black slaad, one black, a white slaad - and what appears to be a miniature dragon familiar, actually an advanced brass or copper dragon.

Just thought of something pretty good.

A speech from the bombastic mayor of the city of Krowyen, who doesn't really understand what's going on
<read with a brooklin accent>
"You see, there are two worms inside this here big apple. There's the worm of crime, and there's the worm of poverty. They're both growing out of control, destroying us from the inside out. And they are feedin' on each other. You can't kill one without making the other stronger still. So I ask you, which worm will you let live?"

Also, there should definately be some scholars who blame the death of the world on the early march of the modrons.

Interestingly, one of the PCs has been planning to have and organize the meeting -- but he's been off-plane for several months. I think that in this time someone else might have organized it instead. That way the PCs can be invitees instead of throwing the thing, and I won't have three game sessions spent worrying about how they'll handle security. :)

It also allows me to customize the guest list.
