The Mummy 4 Is Actually Happening?

Is this news? Did I miss a thread where it was talked about already? Am I being sucked in by Internet tomfoolery?

Apparently Brendan Fraser AND Rachel Weisz are both on board to make a new Mummy movie with an adventurous spirit similar to the original. Apparently Weisz has managed to go a long time without doing a sequel, so there must be something special about a project like this to get her back onboard. Maybe she and Rick Moranis have caught the same bug.

So early talks. Seems some are on board. Will believe it when it happens. A lot of "Oh we really want to make this movie..." things end with nothing showing up on the screen.

I mean, I am down, but I don't expect anything until shooting is concluded at this point. Most likely, stories like this get put out there to generate buzz and create pressure to get a film produced. Frasier has some juice right now and would love to see a return of the 1st and 2nd film's energy. Likely be a "legacy" sequel given that Rick and Evelyn's son could easily be in his 20s at this point.

Depending if they keep Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as part of the timeline, he probably be in his 30s now (though that actor is even older and probably only separated in age from Fraser and Bello by about 15 years).

Brendan Frazer is currently 56.
Luke Ford, who played Alex O'Connell in the 3rd movie, is currently 44.
Freddie Boath, who played younger Alex O'Connell, in the second movie, is currently 30, and isn't in the acting business anymore.

So the timeline is wonky and a sequel is only so beholden to keeping the timing accurate. The second film was released only a couple years after the first but is set some 7ish years later. And yes, I would expect that bringing Rachel Weis is a fine excuse to ignore the 3rd film.
