The Mystery in Bridgetown

Wild Jaguar feel guilty that he wasted slate dart and now seeing his companion's selfless but also too brave and reckless action, he's still shoot the hated woman with flint dart but making sure he won't hit his comrade. Then he will jump at her hoping to distract her from Whisper and to cause her to hesitate what she should do now, while being attacked in the same time from both sides.

The witch manages to throw another rock at Jaguar before Whisper can get in her way. She also avoids being tackled by the slower young man, his change in tactics proving to be futile. Jaguar is little affected by the rock or the mystical attempt to confuse him and retaliates by shooting his last flint dart.

Perhaps Whisper was able to use himself as a distraction. Jaguar Mahoao hits the soft tissue of the woman’s middle a second time. This causes some marked bleeding, and the force of air throws her back a full two strides. The witch is no longer able to physically move, and she labors to breathe, though she is still conscious. With all his pent frustration, Whisper grabs a fallen limb from the ground that still appears to be somewhat solid and bashes in her skull.

Neither young man is physically hurt, merely a bit dazed. The woman lays flat in the mud, facing the sky she will never again see. Her days of mischief are over. The other man who had caused her running to cease is nowhere to be seen, and no sign of his passage exists. The dilemma of the vampire bats has been solved.
