The Mystery in Bridgetown

Whisper does not exclaim but grits his teeth at the ambush from the spiders. Those diabolical creature are notorious for attacking anything. He causes his touch to become mystically shocking as he forcibly removes the spiders to slam them on the ground.

Each of the four spiders sinks its fangs, two on each person. Jaguar is able to resist the venom, but Whisper is weakened slightly as well as hurt. Both young men reflexively remove one of the spiders, killing it as their bodies slam against nearby trees. Unfortunately, the little monsters are able to resist all mystically generated elemental damage so that one spider remains on each of them, fully intent on biting again.

The spiders bite a second time before either young man can react. Each bite causes some damage; but again, only Whisper is affected by the venom. In retaliation, the simple force is enough. The spiders are knocked away and killed without the need for mystical manipulation. The spiders are all dead. Though the damage is little Whisper must attend to his wounds, or the venom will eventually cause him to become paralyzed. Since both have the talent to accelerate their own recovery, it is a simple matter to fix the wounds and negate the toxin.

Travel through the Wilds is always dangerous which is why it is called, The Wilds, and most will only do so in larger groups. Having overcome many threats and eliminated the cause of the hemolytic attack on their village, the two young men return to a grateful town. The elder members of the community express their gratitude at the news they are told and congratulate the explorers on their success.

Respite is never to be a constant and as the Harvest season comes to a close, many begin to express their concern that nothing has arrived from Pear Glen. Pear Glen is a community almost due east of Bridgetown. It is so named because of its primary product and located within a glen formed by some foothills of the Dragon’s Spine and the river that flows from the mountains there. Each Cycle, half of the harvest is normally carried to Bridgetown and the other half to Boga City, but nothing arrives. Due to their previous success, Jaguar Mahoao and Whisper are called upon to investigate the problem.
