The new D&D Player's Kit

Just got a look at the new Player's Kit with Free DDM Booster. The box contains a set of 10 dice (4 d6); softcover PHB; a loose Character Record Sheet for phot-copies; 3 small booklets on generating a character, playing the game, and a solitaire adventure. Shrinkwrapped to the box is a booster of Aberrations DDM!
While I haven't seen a solicitaion for the softcover PHB, it does have its own barcode and price of $19.95.

You know, for 20 bucks, that's not too shabby.

I can think of a handful of young people in my life that would find that to be a pretty sweet birthday or Christmas present.

One thing I wonder. They say its a trade paperback version of the PHB, and I wonder if that means its the whole 320 pages, (or whatever the harback is) or if its a trimmed down version.

Has the new version of the Basic Box set come out yet?

The Player's Kit is $30, the softcover has its own price of $20 but is not available (yet) on its own.
The new basic set is not out yet. It is due for release Sept 12.

Does the soft-cover incorporate the errattum? If so, I can see buying that set.

For some reason I thought the title of this thread was "The new D&D Player's Kilt," and my next thought was "I hope they sell a pair of undies with that kilt and make it mandatory that you wear said undies."

I can get the (older?) box set at half-price books. Good deal, I think.

There is no older version of this set. There is the Basic Game, which is a completely different thing. This box set is supposed to be a transitive product for people who own the Basic Game but aren't sure about buying the books yet.

This is a full-size book. Just softcover. I will check for the errata.

The solitaire adventure is just a small (5.5x8.5, 8 page) pamphlet, set up as a choose-your-path adventure but roll the dice for the encounters.
