I turned 38 in November. I've felt 68 since I was 35. :) My personal crackpot theory is that the body is rigged for neolithic timekeeping, and takes a little while to realize its not actually dying of old age around then and reset. I base this in part on my 50 and 70-something parents and grandparents, who seem to have all the energy in the world again. And I remember my parents being as tired as I am about the same age. :D

I've also played D&D since close to day 1 of the original release through a freak of circumstance, but I was eight years old when I started. No Wargame Basis for me. :)

..."crackpot" aging theory ...
Nah. I blame my dip in energy (and free time, discretionary income, etc etc) on having children. :D

I heard the other day on the radio that the average child-bearing age is going up, although I don't remember what exactly they said it is now.

Think about it. All the hassles of child bearing and rearing, then ~ 15-20 years later they become more self sufficient*, and the parents' energy level goes up. My parents (at ~70) are having more fun now than ever.

It may not hold true for everybody, but it works for me!

Not that I'd trade my little future gamers for anything...

R E
(35. two kids, 4y and 9mo. Been playing/DMing episodically for twentysome years. )

*theoretically, anyway. Subject to some debate. :p

So far I'm the oldest person responding.

Young wippersnappers, in my day we had to walk 5 miles through snow up to our waists to game. Up hill both ways.

A year older than the last time we had this poll -- and that puts me in a new category! :p

It'll be fun to see how our demographics have changed.

i hear ya... i was in the 25-28 category last time. :) of course, i am as old as D&D...

I'm 19, and I feel like I'm too old. I had to check whether I was 18 or 19 from my driver's license some time ago...

But damn, you people are old! :)

0-4 was included as an option? (And some goof chose it!)

Yes, I noticed that myself. Why are there options for 0-4 and 5-8? Heck, 0-4 likely can't even read yet, let alone post here. And yet some smart ass voted in that category too!

As for me, late 20s.

0-4 is the Idiot's Test.

It is conceivable that someone is in the range 5-8. Very, very unlikely, but conceivable.

(My young friend Grace was 9 when I taught her how to play D&D).

Cheers!
