The New GameRoom

Well, last weekend signalled the rollout of our new gameroom, complete with new table (that goes to 91"), which proved to be a smashing success. The Savage Sword of Meepo gaming group now has space for all of their laptops, the maps and the various and sundry refreshments, as well as more convienent access to printers, scanners and media servers. :)

For those so interested, here we are:

and from the other side of the room:

Oddly enough, I think these pictures make the table seem a little smaller than it actually is. :\ And, of course, you can barely see the 'down-time' couch over there, the neat Ikea chair is completely out of shot, and so forth. Either way, I think it's pretty awesome.

But then, I'm easily impressed.

Pretty cool! A good room to game in is important. I don't have a dedicated gameroom; I just clear off the coffee table in the family room, put some mp3 tunes in the DVD player and we sit on the couches and the like. I usually sit on my son's beanbag at one end of the coffee table.

Of course, we're a smallish group, otherwise that wouldn't work well either.

Great game room WizarDru. I love the table. Where did you find it? Did it cost a fortune? I'm looking to replace my homemade plywood monstrosity, and that table looks perfect. :D

I'm very jealous. Right now our group plays at the business of one of my players. They have a conference room but the table really isn't big enough. I've already told my wife that when we start looking at houses later this year we'll be looking for a place with a game room that I can use to host my games and store my books. I've decided to get a Ping Pong table for my gaming because of prior experience using one when I was stationed in South Korea. One half of the table is more than big enough for my Battlemat and together both sides can easily host up to 7 players and the DM with plenty of room for goodies. They also fold up in half and roll up against a wall when you need the space.

Very cool ! I also like the huge bookcase right there too. Nice.
Well, the original shots have been shrunk, some detail was lost there. It's actually _3_ bookshelves, placed next to each other. More bookshelves are due to arrive in the future, as we need a better storage system for our miniatures, dwarven forge and hirst arts materials. The wall behind the computer desk there has a storage area, where most of Scorch's minis can be found, stored in special plastic cases. Until recently, we were also storing his Mage Knight castle pieces and a small selection of his Hirst Arts materials in a rolling, stacked shelving unit. This was removed to make better use of the space.

It's a beaut, and best of all, it's cheap! It's the Nygard from Ikea, and it was only $199. It has two leaves, so it can go from 54" to 91", which allows to free up space in the room when it's not game day. You can see it here on Ikea's website. Assembly was litteraly just screwing on the legs to the frame and flipping it over.

Astute viewers may recognize other Ikea furniture in the picture. ;) The chairs will be upgraded to match the table in the near future. Also, hidden behind the couch in the last shot is where we currently store the huge map pads we use during the game.

That guy in the blue shirt looks like someone I went to high school with. Unlikely, though, since that guy would have gone to HS in Arkansas.

Definitely not. He's Pennsylvania born and raised, I do believe, from the North Penn area. Unlike yours truly, who just sort of ended up here. :)

You have no idea how off target that is, and I ain't saying. :heh:

For the record, that's the Eberron setting that's making the rounds there, in the first picture. It was definitely the topic of the night.
