The NEW RAT BASTARD DM Boards are OPEN!

There should definitely be an RBDMC2 for those of us fiendish types who cannot take part in the primary group because we're in the campaign of one of the main RBDMs.

I'm with you Wulf, we need a forum for our own machinations.

I vote we refer to them as RBDMC Black and Wite and RBDMC Wulfpak, respectively.

I'd make a forum for each DM, and let him decide who can get into his forum.

May be too many permissions for the bbs to handle, I dunno... But that is definitely the killer app.

Once again, apathy is likely to win out over curiosity. I don't really have that much trouble just staying away from the club. I'm remarkably uninquisitive about the machinations of my DM.

Takes the fun out of outsmarting him (whoever he may be).

I'm not DMing at the moment, anyway (though I am viciously stockpiling materials against the day my "all newbie" campaign finally comes to fruition...)

Like you, I too am stockpiling for the time when I get back behind the screen, and likewise opted out of the RBDM founding group so that Old One wouldn't have to worry about secrets getting to us players (I'd say doing so paid off nicely).

I still think having a forum to brainstorm in with others would be a nice option without the secrets getting out.

If I join I want a "Rat Bastard Dungeon Master" banner to put in my signature block just like the folks over at Against the Shadow.org have the League of Extraordinary Posters banner. :D

I think the idea of more than one private forum for DMs would just fracture the posting base too much and would lead to some threads getting less attention - or excessive cross-posting that would make archiving and actually gathering ideas a logistical nightmare - not to mention permission troubles.

I think it would not benefit the collective any.

Of course, other groups of DMs are always able to create their own forums somewhere to throw ideas around and come up with their own name/theme.

So is there a trick to getting the ol' invite? I wouldn't mind joining the club and I know that none of my players already belong. I did sign up for the list under my EnWorld name, but I have not received the confirmation e-mail.

Ah, the beauty of RBDMing...

Snicker... especially with an epic party, when all the gloves are off...

('course, one of the players runs the epic game I play in, too, so what goes round...)

The best way to get invited is to simply be a presence of good rat bastardly ideas on boards that current members visit and be a consistant poster.

You are more than welcome to take part in the public forum.

Unfortunately, as much as we'd love to have you - you are disqualified from invitation to the private forum as your DM is a current (and founding member).

Actually, I don't see why Wulf and Sagiro shouldn't have access to the private forum even though their DM is a founding member. Why? Because they are already mature enough to not look at Piratecats thread publicly here on ENworld where nasty stuff gets cooked up for his PCs. They would be equally able to not look in any threads started by Piratecat in the RBDMC.

The only issue would be if they participated in some other DMs thread which had given PC ideas or something like that... but how often does that actually happen, realistically?

Or are you considering it as a blanket safety net so that nobody feels discriminated against ("Hey Wulf, we know *you* can be trusted, but we have a blanket rule so that we're not accused of being mean to those *other guys*", something like that?)

Just curious and keeping the conversation open.

Cheers
