The new Spring Attack

That's another one I'm not sure about. The new Haste is practically worthless, IMO.

The new haste, aka 'mass expeditious retreat plus weapon of speed plus attack bonus plus AC bonus plus save bonus?'

C'mon. Different, sure. Worthless? Hardly.

I actually agree with him. Either practically worthless or really really boring (but highly advantageous) depending upon how it's used. But that's another thread entirely.

If you full attack, then the only way you can move is by taking a 5' step, and 5' steps don't provoke AoOs. You don't even need the Spring Attack feat to do that.

Sorry. In my game the wizard had mass haste so I forgot to mention that you'd be hasted. We could use the extra partial to spring away. This was pretty powerful.

And on top of that, now people who thought it was that way before feel somehow that they were proven right by the change...

You betcha :)

Now "moving in this way" actually requires you to "move in this way" :)

Good Thing :)

The only disadvantage this might give you (without good tumbling skills) is against a polearm wielder in a 5ft floor... You can Spring attack him and have to do a 5ft step back... at least. You can't stay close to him and whack him next time with more attacks.

It was also, if not breaking 3e rules, at least bending them until they got those little white stress lines. Spring attack specifies 'when using the attack action', not 'when using a full attack'.

They've been playing too much Zelda: TWW. Whenever he makes a parry attack, he either jumps to(over) them attacks midway through a front flip, or rolls to the back of them and attacks whilst moving back. That is what they want from a sping attack.

Well, if I'm a part of "they" all I want is to be able to attack (once) and jump straight back, or jump straight in and attack. To me, all this new rule does is eat away at my character's movement. i.e. he has to waste 5' in each of the above scenarios.

Really, it doesn't effect my playing at all at the moment (I'm going to be playing a bard with a whip-dagger,) but a former rogue character is quite piqued. :p

Oh, and Ferret? I wish I'd been playing too much Zelda: The Wind Waker. No Gamecube. :(
