Wombat
First Post
The Rogue is a terribly versatile class, but one aspect bothered both myself and my players -- every Rogue does sneak attacks.
Consider: You are building your Rogue along the lines of a Confidence Man trickster. Why should you also know where to stick the knife in?
So, taking a leaf from the Fighter, Sneak Attack has been replaced in my campaigns with Bonus Feat.
The Feats included on the list are pretty straightforward for a Roguish kind (please note we still use 3.0, heavily modified, so essentially 3.Wombat, thus YMMV):
Acrobat, Alertness, Athletic, Back Alley Brawler (Blinding Strike, Painful Strike, Agonizing Strike), Charlatan, Dash, Dodge (Mobility, Spring Attack, Improved Dodge), Expert Climber (Wall Fighter), Expertise (Chink in the Armour, Improved Disarm, Improved Trip), Eye for Quality, Improved Initiative (Hair Trigger Reflexes, Lightning Grab, Riposte, Snatch Weapon), Lightning Reflexes, Low Key (Contemptible Target), Persuasive (Alluring), Poison Craftsman (Poison Reaper, Devious Alchemy), Quick Draw (Flick of the Wrist), Quicker than the Eye, Run (Fleet of Foot), Shadow, Skill Focus, SNEAK ATTACK [see below] (Arterial Strike, Hamstring), Trapmaster (Clever Designer, Speedy Designer, Fiendish Designer), Trustworthy, Weapon Finesse.
Sneak Attack now becomes a General Feat gives you +1d6 of bonus damage, as per the standard rules. The feat may be taken multiple times, stacking each time. The only restriction is that you may have no more than half your level in Sneak Attack dice.
