The Order of the Stick at GenCon 2006 (with shiny pictures)

Hey gang--

So it's that time of year again--time for me to tell you all the stuff that we're dishing up at the Giant in the Playground booth at this year's GenCon Indy. We're booth #445 this year, right past the back left corner of the WOTC booth. We'll have a truly ginormous OOTS sign hanging overhead; with luck you'll be able to see it from the door. But what will really be exciting for fans will be the oodles of new OOTS stuff we'll have for sale and (gasp!) for freebies throughout the convention.

First, we have two big new product releases. Our newest book, No Cure for the Paladin Blues will be on sale in unlimited quantities for the first time. It's a whopping 244 pages of full-color OOTS comedy, compiling the second full story arc of the comic. This is the last chance to pick up a copy and buy it until October, when it hits bookstore shelves. (That goes for any websites selling "preorders" of the book too--they aren't getting their copies until October, regardelss of what they may be telling you, which means you won't see any shipped out until after that.) Further, if you pick up Paladin Blues and our first compilation, Dungeon Crawlin' Fools, together, we'll throw in our first book of all-new material, the prequel On the Origin of PCs free (while supplies last)! That's a $13.95 value, free.

Our other big release is the brand-new The Order of the Stick Adventure Game, a boardgame for 2-6 players with over 500 cards, each practically dripping in OOTS comic art. Now, unlike the book, we're only getting 300 copies shipped over in time for the convention, so it's strictly first-come, first-serve. Again, the rest of the shipment won't hit store shelves until September.

Next, we've got some great t-shirts. I think they speak for themselves, take a look:

Now, with these products come some slick gifts for our loyal customers. Anyone spending $25 at the booth gets a swanky Belkar fridge magnet. And the first 500 customers at any purchase level get a new Elan-with-Banjo-the-Clown button.

Finally, GITP is sponsering our first OOTS Coloring Contest. Kids under 12 who stop by the booth can get a free OOTS coloring booklet. If they color the center spread and bring it back, we'll judge the best in three age categories on Sunday. The winners each get a basket filled with more than $50 in age-appropriate art supplies for their future creative projects. And if the kids need crayons to color with, we're giving those out free, too, while supplies last.

Now that I'm done spewing adspeak at you, I would also like to say that it will be my honor to be introduced by EN World's Kevin Kulp (you know him as Piratecat) as a presenter at this year's ENnies awards. I'll be presenting the three art awards: Best Cover Art, Best Interior Art, and Best Cartography. Because, you know, technically nothing I do can actually be nominated for an ENnie, this was my best chance to get on stage. Thanks to the ENnie staff for inviting me, I'm sure it will be fun.

Aw hell....

I think I am going to buy all of that :(

Well, only the "Roy as DaVinci's Man" from the T-Shirt offerings, but still...I'm definitely getting the Belkar Fridge magnet.

Dude, I have to tell you, of all the cool, new stuff coming out at Gen Con, it is all of the above that has just made me truly wish I was heading over to Indy! Can't wait to get those shirts online.

I'm stealing much of this from TB when he isn't looking.
