The Pit of Loch-Durnan

Our group just completed the Mystic Eye adventure The Pit of Loch-Durnan (fun was had by all), and in deciding where to go to now a few questions have arisen.

My group has taken up the offer of leading Loch-Durnan, and things that have come up include how much gold does the mine generate, what kind of relationship was there between the gold miners and the town mayors (do the mayor collect a tax on the gold mined? or are the miners simply employees of the mayor)?

Anyone have any thoughts?

I've never read the adventure you're talking about, so I can't help you with specific advice on the topic. However, if you are interested in some good rules/advice on mines and their operation, the 1st edition Dungeoneer's Survival Guide has an excellent section on mining. The book as a whole is full of great ideas and excellent information, so it would be worth locating for more than just mining.
