the problem with siamese twins..

cross posted ith my apologies..

i wanna make a bbeg who is a siamese twin. attached by a longish band of flesh at the small of the back would be a fighter and a mage.

i assume the two would have seprate skills and levels, but would probably share some if not all of their physical stats.

a ton of questions come to mind, both mechanical and plot based.

can one be put below 0 hp and the other still fight? increased or decreased movement? is it fair to have them be mobile enough to stand semi-side by side AND back to back? what kind of mount does a 9-12 level mage/9-12 lvl fighter siamese twin ride?

can both bodies take actions? does the fighter have penalties to ac for "synching" with his partner? does the mage get an ac bonus for being attached to an armored tank? does everyone who even approaches them get an aoo?

i can see them being narcisistic OR self loathing OR mutually loathing. which has the best plot and creepy factors and why?

FINALLY- is it way cool to have the sorc be a necromancer who has raised his dead fighter half to keep protecting him?

any other coolnes you can help me and them with?

I'm not sure if I should scream, laugh, cry, or burst my head open brick a stapler.

An interesting idea if there ever was one...

You could probably get some (not many) ideas from other monsters with multiple intellects (ettin, hydra maybe?)

Conjoint twins come irrevariably from the same foetus, IIRC, so since they are biologically identical, they should have relatively similar stats.

How long would be the strand of flesh that unites them? What happens if it is cut? Why hasn't it been cut before?

If the strand is long enough for the twins to move independantly, then they could act independantly. If it isn't, you could simply play it that one twin can "drag" the other (involuntary movement) when he moves. Of course, movement could be cut by half to represent the extra weight. You could also give the twins a "special power" that lets them always act in sync.

If the strand that unites them is long, then it probably doesn't contain any vital organs, so the death of one shouldn't greatly affect the other, IMO...

I'mm very curious of the other replies you might (I mean will) get.

You might be able to use the Symbiotic template in Savage Species. I dunno, its been a while since I've read it and I know it wasn't written with human/human in mind. Good luck, though, the PCs will definately, definately, never see that one coming.

Anyone else see that french film which involves a gang of mutants fighting for mutant freedom? One of the characters was a pair of siamese twins joined at the hip (but with two full sets of everything).

At one point, one of the twins dies, and the other half has to haul the dead body through a desert - at some stage during this, the dead twin starts to rot.

That struck me as pretty repulsive, and the sort of thing that would massively traumatise someone.

I like the idea of the necromancer (probably cleric...) bonded to an undead creature of some kind. Perhaps vampire? The twins were attacked in the night by a vampire, who bit, drained and killed the fighter brother. The cleric brother then woke, turned and destroyed the vampire. He was then dominated by his (now vampire) brother.

I think a touch of mutual loathing, or at least dislike, could work quite well, although it may verge on farce, but could be pretty creepy/amusing/tragic depending on what you want.

Being narcisistic is definitely the most creepy of those 3, just not sure why.

As far as a mount, I think a saddled animal could be quite difficult to work for these 2. So I reckon either something large, around elephant sized/probably undead, with a howdah on top, although mounting/dismounting could be tricky. If the sorceror is into necromancy then a palanquin (sic?) carried around by some hefty but mindless undead could work?

Wonder what would happen if just the undead brother was turned?

Giving the fighter brother levels in the Devoted Defender Prc could be particularly effective. That'd stop attackers targeting the sorceror brother so easily. Have used a Cleric/Devoted Defender brother/sister, albeit not conjoined!, pair before... worked out well.

If one was knocked out, the other should become fatigued, and if they die they should go to a kind of 0hp. The should be connected by blood vessels.
