The Pulse of The Thirteen Kingdoms

First Post
I've been checking it, and it's faint.

In the past couple of weeks I've kicked my participation back into gear and noticed something that has brought a question to mind.

How many players do we have?

Check the forums, when was the last time that a player, ANY player, that wasn't a CM posted? I think our lack of games finally had it's impact. I think they've either faded away or taken a break from T13K.

How many CMs have posted in the past month?

The interest, imagination, and energy of those still here is not questioned. In fact, I've been inspired by many of you by late. I'm not calling for anything drastic, but pointing this out so we can adress it.

Long live The 13 Kingdoms.

I have noticed this as well. I did recruit about 10 players to T13K and found a DM who has said she will be starting up a new campaign in Argossea.

I am somewhat hesitant to go out and actively recruit more players without a FIRM knowledge that adventures are waiting for them. I am running my campaign, and that is all that I have time for. Ideally, there would be a minimum of 13 campaigns in progress at any time.

My suggestions:

1. Recruit DM's. Go to OpenRPG and open up a room on a busy server. I usually go to Better Games Public Server, OpenRPG Dev II or OpenRPG Dev III. Name your room "Recruiting DM's", or, "Recruiting Players" or some other thing to let the people in the lobby that are browsing that you are looking for someone. Have a graphic made up in the map section that is actually text describing what you are recruiting and why. Begin answering questions. This would work well with 2 CM's/DM's at a time in the room to handle discussions.

2. Help the DM's get a campaign background set and some adventures lined up.

3. Post a number of adventures/campaigns in the Questing for Adventure thread.

4. Recruit players in the same manner as #1. If people check us out and find adventures waiting for players they will stay.

As a side note, our misfortune with the home site has certainly hurt us. The pranks of the adolescents of the world cannot deter those who are of a strong will to accomplish their goals. I will start a new thread for people to sign up for recruiting new DM's in the above method. This will allow us to be organized and hopefully have someone present each night of the week and at differing times.

Esse Quam Videre - To be rather than to seem.

Entropy, those are some good suggestions. We need to start getting into the recruit mood again, but we have to make sure there are adventures awaiting them. So recruiting DMs is a must.

Good thinking.

I'm in agreement!

I'd like to get one person who agrees to submit to the RPG news sites out there when our news is posted each month, also. Volunteer?

Posting previews might be a good idea. Let's commit to pre-release a Country, a God, a PrC (one we are damn sure we created). Once the book is updated, we can post those while we review together for edits. Another news item will be the new website, when that goes up.

News items generate interest, so... these are all good things.

That is a good idea as well, Emiricol. Once the .pdf is completed that will be quite easy to do. My only difficulty in being the person to do so is that I cannot seem to cut and paste out of Acrobat. Perhaps I am unaware of how to do so with just the reader...

It is actually pretty easy - you open Acrobat, open the setting guide, then click the Documents menu and select the Extract Pages function. Type in the page(s) range in the popup box, quickly Save As something else. That's all there is to it :)
