As any gamer should know, the real world can be a never-ending source of inspiration for games. When browsing through random Wikipedia entries, I've often thought to myself: "This would make for an awesome adventure idea!". But unfortunately, the Wikipedia does not permit users to add gaming ideas to their entries.
But the Arcana Wiki does. Basically, anything that is a valid entry for the Wikipedia (and quite a few more besides, since the Arcana Wiki does not have a "notability standard") is also a valid entry for the Arcana Wiki - as long as you can show how to make it relevant to gaming! Each entry is divided into the following sections:
What the Arcana Wiki is not: The Arcana Wiki is not intended to be a repository for people, locales, and so forth that the contributors invented all by themselves. For example, while you could create entries for deities from any real-world pantheon out there (and then describe how you used them in your own campaign), you couldn't just invent a new deity and a new religion for the wiki. After all, the purpose of the wiki is to get inspired by what's out there in the real world.
Any questions?

Basically, anything that is a valid entry for the Wikipedia (and quite a few more besides, since the Arcana Wiki does not have a "notability standard") is also a valid entry for the Arcana Wiki - as long as you can show how to make it relevant to gaming! Each entry is divided into the following sections:
- Vignette: Here you can describe in a short paragraph or two how people within an RPG campaign would experience the topic of the entry. Note: Please do not use locations or people from published RPG settings (unless you own the IP) for the vignettes - the Arcana Wiki uses a Creative Commons license, and I'm unsure about the legal complexities involved.
- Basic Information: Here you can describe the factual information about the topic of the entry, similar to an Wikipedia entry - though the qualifications aren't as stringent and a greater emphasis should be placed on the parts that are interesting for gaming purposes. Please also add any sources you have used so that others can read more about the topic in question - online sources are preferred, but other resources (such as books) can also be useful.
- Game and Story Use: Here you can describe any and all adventure and campaign ideas relevant to the topic you can think of in the form of a bulleted list. If you have ideas that branch off from other ideas in the list, you can put them in as higher-level list items.
