The Retaking of Forgehold - 4E

"You do know that there can be more than one way into a room Mal, right?" Mira teases her brother. "And no, we will not be cutting his tail off. Thats just barbaric, like me chopping off your ear. If he tells us what he knows about the room, and the Dragon, he'll be free to go."

"So the dragons not much more than the size of a horse. Thats not too big is it? I suppouse that means its pretty young. Do you think we could beat it?" Mira asks Arden, not really knowing much about dragons other that that they go to be really really big and nasty as they got older.

Arden looks at Mira, thoughtfully: Beat him? I wouldn't know, lady mira. I've never had the luck, or unluck, to meet a dragon in person. Certainly, if the kobold spoke the truth, it must be a quite young specimen. If have to give advice in this matter, tactical advantage might be critical if we are to challenge the beast. We may want to sent a scout ahead to check the room ahead.

-''I doubt it. This dragon has to be young and relatively weak. Otherwise the locals would have mentioned it. An elder dragon tend to draw attention. According to what the brainiac told us, these kobold worships dragons as a gods. Well, these kobold are also obviously protecting their god. It would defeat the purpose if dragon hunters could just sneak through the back and kill the beast outright without having to through its faithful kobold worshiper.''

-''No scout. Dragons are predators so I expect they are alert and have keen senses. Sending someone alone to 'scout' is like sending the beast an apetizer before the main course. We either do this or we don't. We go all in and charge the beast or we leave right now.''

Standing next to the entrance of the next room, Mal readies himself for battle.

-''We know this beast can't be too powerful... yet. That's why the locals are complaining about kobolds and not dragons: They haven't seen the dragon around. But the beast is biding its time and growing stronger. We kill it now while it's small, we save everyone a good deal of grief down the road and reap the glory of slaying a dragon!

So let's do this. We go in fast and hard. The careful approach won't work because we'll be coming at him from a narrow corridor. It's a bottleneck and we have to get clear of it as fast as we can, lest we become stuck in there and lose the advantage of our numbers. We have to spread and wrap around him and all get in striking position as fast as we can.''

OOC:guys, think about the kobold. Part of our reward was on the base of "clearing the whole tribe" don't know how much a single kobold would count against that, but just to remind you. I don't even mind much, but i guess this is one of those points where a party asks itself "are we really such good guys?" Arden isn't, for one :P

OOC : Mal is in favour of just killing the kobold but I don't want to start an in-character fight over it so he'll grudgingly defer to Mira and Tel if they decide to let it live.

"Your right, it is probably small enough that we might handle it. I just don't want to bite off more than we can true, but if we can protect the people it might hurt, we need to do it." Mira agrees.

"Lets all catch our breath though first."

OOC: basically, lets finish looting the bodies, spending healing surges to get back up to snuff and then move on.
