The Retaking of Forgehold - 4E

"Hey you there!" The big barabarian you saw at the fight with the goblin calls to you. He is obviously no dwarf, being one of the biggest humans, you have ever seen. His head is still covered by his helm, his big axe on his back, with his other belongings.
This is obviously no normal barbarian. Most prefer to wear leather or hide armor, but he obviously wears chain.
Still waving his hand, he approaches you.

-''Hum. You seem strangely familiar...'' says the warrior, scratching his chin as he looks at the newcomer.

[sblock]That was a tongue in cheek reference to the fact that Ragnar's attributes are identical to Mal's. :P [/sblock]

-''You were a guard with us on the caravan, right? Are you looking for work too?''

Ragnar fixed his glance on Mal: "You got the build of a true warrior." Then he includes the others in his speech: "My name is Ragna, I'm from the Snowprowler tribe. And I'm no mere guard, but have come to this city to gain honor in the sevice to the houses Deluna and Verhaun. So yes, I'm looking for work. I sense greatness in all of you. I hope we will work together and not against each other."
Up near, you can discern some primoridal runes on his axe.

[sblock=OOC]This I get from not reading the other players' character sheets. Str and Con are just the most important abilities for barbarians. Dex is neede for scale spez (I know, far away) and I just prefer Wis over Cha. I didn't want to copy your character.

See, sir Malenkirk, appearance can trick: he's more civilized than you are. A pleasure to know you, sir Ragna. I believe we indeed share some objectives... comments Arden

"Don't get fooled by my speech. I talk in the tongue of the so called 'civilized' lands, but my mind and spirit are unbroken and free. And in the ríastrad, my wrath knows no bounds. But even the lowest anmal knows when to adapt. I'm far from home and in the need of spirited weapon-brothers. Honor and glory for justice! May our paths lead to all of this. Are you hired by the same tribes?" Ragnar says, his voice showing a clear disdain in the way he says 'civilized'.

-''That's... interesting.'' Mal says with a sly grin. ''Well, I'm always happy to see somebody else volunteer to get a bashing beside me. It got lonely at the frontline since we lost our holy lizard to a crisis of faith. Yeah, we are a looking for work from the same houses. Let's get to it together. So let's start with Verhaun first. They are less civilized.'' Mal winks at Arden as he says this.

When the team gets under way, Aelek hangs back to talk to Mal.

-''Are you sure we can trust him?'' whispers Aelek.

-''Hell no. But when we met you were trying to capture me, so he's already a step ahead of you.'' Mal Jokes.

-''Touché.'' Aelek grins.

-''And beside, you can trust a barbarian to charge first and draw first blood. Both on the enemies and on himself. Speaking as the guy who usually takes most of the beatings, I like that. It's refreshing.''

-''Sure. As long as you stay a step behind and don't let him hang out to dry.'' Aelek admonishes.

-''Oh, you can count on that. I'll be sure to stay a step behind.''

-''So, basically, you want to do to him what I do to you?''

They both laugh heartily.

OOC: I am assuming that you are searching out the factor for the House of Verhaun first.

The factor for the house of Verhaun is a man named Dethos. He is usually found in the Helm Tavern, near the larger market in New Forgehold.

The Helm if one of the more intact sturdy structures you've seen, the bottom floor is actually decently constructed stone. The upper floors appear to be sturdy although very new, leading you to believe they may have been replaced recently. You enter the tavern keeping an eye out for Dethos, of whom you had a rough physical description. You enter the tavern as many people begin clearing out from the noon rush.

Along the back wall you see Dethos, or at least a man who fits his description near the back. Seated at a desk in the back, flanked by two guards is a white-haired human with piercing blue eyes. His silk clothing, while clearly of expensive manufacture, shows a lack of care in upkeep. You can see him conducting business and there is a short queue of rough-looking folk waiting. He is continuing to eat while working, and you can see from his frame that this is a man who likes his food.

-''Well, let's introduce ourselves.'' Mal says and suddenly pushes Aelek forward.

The tiefling stumbles in surprise and gives the warrior an angry glare that is returned by an insolent grin and a playful wink.

Aelek steadies himself and walks forward.

-''Sir Dethos, I presume? My name is Aelek Wolfheart. My companion and I are mercenaries and we are reporting to you. We've been told you might have needs of people with our talents and that you pay well so here we are. I am confident we can conduct mutually advantageous business.''

Dimplomacy (1d20+10=22)

[sblock]Aelek stats block says he has +12 to diplomacy but I wager he mistakenly added his racial +2 to diplomacy instead of bluff... 5 (trained) + 1 (level) + 4 (attribute)= 10[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]It's just you two? I thought the whole party was there.[/sblock]"Well, you look capable, but we're not looking for just any 'mercenaries' off the street. Do you have any references?" Dethos continued, "Is it just you two? Are there any others you work with? We could possibly use the help of a small squad for some semi-independent work."
